I have set the frame up on a rear paddock stand and used a long lenth of string around the rear wheel, run 1 end up each side of the bike to the fronrt wheel and used this it allign the rear wheel in the swingarm and the front wheel between the string. I have measured from the swing arm spindle to the front spindle and I get 930mm both sides. I have then put a meter rule parralel with the floor from the upper footrest bolt hole to the forks and the measured from the inside edge to the lower fork tube and Im getting 20mm on the left and about 10mm on the right. Looking at dropping it in to Motorline to check which is £50, if it needs sorting its about another £100 maximum on top. Also got this to sort out b4 its powder coated. Not a problem as I have this from the German YPVS LC. Marked up on a bit of RSJ Cut out, just needs finnishing a bit neater. This is How it ended up on the German frame.

Had a closer look at the top end, looks like it has had a rebore a short while b4 it came off the road, may be lucky and get away without a rebore this time and just a hone and new rings, and possibly 1 piston. It would be nice. Left piston and bores look ok, some marking on the other side so it has had a seize. Barrels are untouched by a grinder. 1 small problem to sort out, only thing to break on the strip down. The head has some damage and has been skimmed, I will be sending this off for reprofiling to standard volume and set with narrower squish than the 2mm+ they had as standard. I have also run a tap through all the threads on the crank cases and side casses after I stripped them totaly, so the engine parts are now ready to go to the Engineers.

couldent get the caliper pistons out so had to strip and red grease the master cylinder to get it to work (will get new seals when rebuilt) Finnaly got it to bleed ok and fitted both calipers one at a time to get the pstons out. Has both shims missing, but I have a sheet and will cut another 1 out from the spare 1 have. 1 hanger bracket has a stripped thread so will need sorting.

just plodding through it all bit by bit. Getting it all back to clean bare metal first, then re finnishing will begine. Frame wont be going to Motoliner untill next week now, as i want to be there to take photos. Paint strippped the rotor side engine cover and doing the clutch side tonight Stripped the carbs yesterday, but they will need some proper cleaning. gona be sending them off for ultrasonic cleaning and aquablasting, only £39 the pair. www.tsrvapourblasting.co.uk/Carb_Cleaning.html

I didnt think it was too bad, all came apart without any trouble, except the barrel drain bolt but its an easy fix. I tell you what Gary, I think the worse they are, the more rewarding the finnished job is.

Tony has a place he uses, but my advise would be to do them yourself with PJ1 case paint if you want them black, of acid etch and spray the colour you want as its easy to change the colour at a later date or repair damage.

well not done much on the rebuild for a fair while, but should be moving on in the coming months. wheels have been stripped of bearings, the paint spripped by hand and along with the fork lowers and footrest hangers dropped at the pollishers. Sent the fork tubes off the AM Philpots and got the delivered back in a week for £156, very good service. Frame ready to have lower lock stop welded on, it well then be off the TrippleS for powder coating. b4 and after of the revcounter done with marker pen, not mint but loads better. zeroed speedo too. also had a go at pollishing the forks for my YPVS LC with this. happy with the result. Also got around to building a 2m long bench B4 Christmas, as it was a pain building the last 2 LCs on a workmate.

machine shop will be sorting that out for me, bit of heat would possibly sort it out but I dont have any easyouts to do it myself, or a bench drill.

I'd put the barrel under a microscope and start picking that damn bolt out, atom by atom. I'd never give up. xD

Picked the polished parts up tody. Frame lockstop now welded on. The headlamp brackets were bent, little banging and smoothing off. The thin strips that set their position were missing too, made a pair and got them welded on. Fork legs arrived back from the chromers too, so I am able to rebuild the forks now.
