I know the score with these of old , but have they got any better?
There's some on the bay that don't look half bad and seem like the lines look something like .
Are they still the same pile of old pish , anyone bought one lately? I know they actually make decent triumph tanks in India as I got a mate in work that bought one and he's a fussy bugger .

Same pile of old pish I'm afraid but I know what you mean
The latest ones on ebay look a lot better but call me cynical, I bet you won't get one like that

I thought the top of the tank (especially around the rear mount) looked like an original tank where the bottom looked boxy like before

In fairness the add does state new tank, so it’s obviously Indian.

Where did they get their build advice?

I've bought two Indian made tanks for Triumph and Velo and they were actually very good. If needs dictated and the price were right I'd look at using one on my YPVS's without hesitation. There is nothing sisnister about the fact that it's internally lined, surely that is a massive plus.

Totally different kettle of fish Martin
We have all seen the videos of the sections being pressed, welded together, trimmed, panel beat for any dinks and pressure tested. We'll made with very questionable health and safety
All the Indian LC and ypvs tanks that ever have been brought in appear to be hand beaten to make the top and the bottom is boxy and made from offcuts
The shape is wrong, the taps have been known to be in the wrong place, the cap sits too high and they don't fit on the frame. All this along with the inside looking like it's been in a canal for weeks
If there were any god ones we would be buying and using them

Sure that you're right Steve but the picture of the one on the bike and stand alone on ebay were not really that bad. If needed (hypothetical case) I perhaps wouldn't reject it immediately because it was Indian but would compare what was offered, a standard tank, and/or what was otherwise available. Then I'd ask you. I remember the mid '60's too. Buy this Honda rubbish? You must be joking, it's made of old washing machines.

The one on the bike looks terrible!
I don't think anyone who intends to actually keep the bike, could live with it.

If it looks $hite in a photo imagine how bad it looks in real life?
You'd have to spend your money and get it to you before you knew how bad it was. Would you be able to get your money back then?
I'd imagine them saying "it fits the bike?" well yes, sort of, "then it is as described".

Martin, as you say yourself you’re fairly new to the RD. A lot on here have seen the true horror of an Indian tank being cut open to expose the build quality. Strangely, I can’t seem to find the video nasty a lot have witnessed in the past? I wouldn’t even be happy with garden furniture produced at that quality. No-one has ever challenged this since, so I imagine it’s the same? Jon

I put a pic up some time back of an Indian pv tank. It was awful. I'm away at the mo so can't easily find the post, but needless to say, don't bother.

I posted the video too, from Facebook originally. Guy cuts it open to reveal the horrors within !! Tanks are reputedly made by studying pics. There are other videos showing Indian manufacturing processes with bike parts. Should be enough to put anyone off !
