I admire your optimism Martin, but I think the owners of the Crooked House will just not do it. They will claim a lack of cash and it will just remain a mess until either the council seize the land and turn it into something like a bit of parkland or it gets sold off and then houses on it.
I really hope the worldwide nature of this one helps, but its the councils lack of teeth thats the issue really. What irks if that if you build a garage on your land without planning permission you probably get the same fine and told to knock it down, if you dont do it they fine you some more and maybe engage a contractor and do it for you and then charge you... as usual the middle section of the population are mostly law abiding and fund the other ends of society etc.
Anyway, yep.. 2027. See you there!

They waited the full 30 days to do it as well and know they will be rejected, its just a delaying tactic. Spooky....

Ahh, very clever defence to the demolition... and the 'logic' about the new location.
Plus... the pub'll be a draw for them when they build a bunch of houses (it'll be a community!) there as well...
They certainly aint stupid and I bet the council agrees with them in the end and there are no convictions.
I expect this isnt at all what they wanted but their legal team burnt some midnight oil to come up with this and very little can be disproved.

Make them look like saviours rather than arsonists! yes. its a very clever ploy i reckon. They may even pull it off which would be worrying.

I can't make my mind up bout it being a good thing Ãēr not,if they are told it has to be built in the same spot then would it just rumble on and nothing gets done for 4 years plus ?
I want to see it built and if it's nearer to the Himley Road ...

I agree - build a load of houses, where the council will have an option to house families on the ever increasing waiting list, and councillors will have a hard time refusing it. There was a long term plan here all along - there always is, and I have no doubt that there are people involved who you think should be on your side, but aren't. I co ordinated a campaign to stop Fire Station closures back in the early 90's. I spent a long time lobbying councillors, sitting in on Council meetings and seeing the workings of local Government. It became obvious very quickly that shady dealings amongst councillors is common place, and party politics steers decisions even when a local councillor disagrees with them. Some simply couldn't be available for meetings where votes were taken - I know for a fact this was deliberate as I personally know one of them - and that absence enables a vote to go in the desired direction. Even our Union was involved, doing deals with the Chief Fire Officer and the Tory council to try and get what they wanted. We delivered 10,000 letters of complaint to all the councillors on the Fire Brigades Committee - rules said they had to reply to each and every one, though they never did We delivered a petition with 12,000 signatures too. It was in all the local papers and news channels. We saved them the first time (91/92) and again a few years later, but eventually they got closed and Fire cover for the area is now, at best, 50% of what it used to be. You can get an awful lot of flats on old Fire Station land ! Dusty

Yes there will be a few more twists and turns to this story but with the same owners,it like someone smashing up your bike and setting it on fire then a few months later offer to rebuild for you !
