Result. It really pisses me off when people think they are really clever and above the law. Karma.

Obviously those arrested this week are the owners who wanted to redevelop, the ages of the people in the recent article are the same as those when they are named in the earlier articles.
I sadly expect their lawyers will get them off, but the fact the police are pulling them in and charging them is a start.

I also saw today that some 16yr old idiot cut down the famous tree on Hadrians wall. www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-tyne-66952980Why? WTAF? (to be fair it a big cut, at 16 Id have been afraid to chop down such a big tree with a chainsaw... but then I am 'a townie who has trees', not a farmers son. Anyway, not wanting to dilute this thread, but what is wrong with people?

Sad to say they will just go bust if ordered to rebuild it. I hope the council go after them personally as i bet they have the £3m between the company and themselves.
Interested to see how this pans out, it will set precedent for anything that comes later and will send a message one way or other. I think the council see this.

The law moves at a glacial pace sadly. It'll be a year before anyone comes to trial I suspect and even then it could be thrown out due to a technicality. Let alone any changes to the actual laws and powers of council. Its rubbish really.
Someone needed to step up and make them rebuild this one pub and have to pay to do it. not be bankrupt since they hid their money etc. That would send a message to everyone else. Instead we have limbo... cue others sneakily buying up pubs and closing them awaiting the court cases to see if they fail so they can just knock em down, even if the council says they cant.
You really would think if the council says no to something that you cant get away with doing what you want, if any of us built a garage without their permission you just know how hard they'd fight you and make you pull it down, yet in this case they seem to lack teeth. thats mental.

I thought it was good as it keeps this in the news. If we let the story die off then quietly in a court they will get a small fine or the case will be thrown out on a technicality and no one will know. It'll set precedent for others do what they like etc. If people keep it on the boil they wont get away with it. Trial by media is real.

keeps it bubbling in the public's consciousness... sad that we are no further to a rebuild or a conviction tho. This means no one needs to be afraid of the council or the police on this so it will keep happening I guess.

yes, its the toothlessness that is the enemy here I think. Once people start to understand that there is no comeuppance then they behave badly and that means more of this.
The authorities need to make an example and then there would be a 'Crooked House Ruling' or something and people would remember that name going forwards.
Fine, forced rebuild and/or jail time... Profit is not the only thing in life and that needs to be understood. Greed isnt good etc.

The biz will fold too, then no one is 'around' to pay to rebuild the pub I suspect.
People do this all the time to escape debt and bad decisions sadly.

Saying it just to get a reaction
