I quite like it.. It's not like any other motorcycle TV show is better, apart from the yearly Isle of Man coverage perhaps. The most boring part of the show is the reviews of new motorcycles, but that's the same on say 44teeth where all the new bike reviews are boring too. (apart from that Dirty Baggers thing with the BMW and the Goldwing, that comes highly recommended). And after all, who never overtook on a double white or took the hands of the bars ? My old back requires me to do that lots of times when riding my RD

Henrys life story is quite something, he knows TV from back to front and inside out, he's worked with the likes of Jack Hargreaves and Fred Dibnah, two blokes who would have just told you to f**k off if they didn't like you and he is a grafter, I used to think he was a t**t but he has grown on me and I like most of what he does which is as well because he is never off the fukin telly.

I've read his biography. A very interesting life indeed. Yes, he comes across as a bit of a t**t on the telly but I reckon if I met him we'd be mates.
And yes, Sam Lovegrove is sorely missed.

Alex His new bezzy mate is Alan Milyard. You cant do anything but admire Alans work on the z1000. Not sure about the z1 based colour scheme.

i was talking to a bloke at Boxhill a couple of weeks ago (Kelvin) he has a Kenny Roberts Lambretta with a YPVS lump in it, all work done himself, he knows Henry and Alan, he did say Henry is ok once you get to know but he can be a bit marmite not me in the video i had left by then.

Alan is a truly fantastic engineer and a very nice chap but in front of the camera he's plain boring. He also has an annoying trait like Henry. He says 'man' every other word, Alan says 'that fits perfect'. It's perfectly dammit! Sam on the other hand is also a gifted spanner twirler but is also funny. Plus he has a font of knowledge about almost any bike or car you care to mention.

S12 Ep4 Just watching The Motorbike Show on catch up and the piece on Fizzies was a proper bit of nostalgia. I had the po’boys 4-stroke Honda SS50 as my first moped at 16 but my mate had a nice FS1-E to drool over 🤤 Here’s a screen shot from the show.

Not seen the latest , but they are resurrecting the Norton nemesis that's in the motorcycle museum, to attempt to beat the V8 motorcycle land speed record, which currently stands at 130mph,Alan millyard spannering, obviously, and Henry Cole to ride it.
The bikes a very interesting engineering subject, designed and built by Al Melling, only 5 were built, 1500cc V8, very technical design, including calipers cast into the fork legs, 4 are known whereabouts, the fifth was purchased, along with spares and design rights by a German company.
Melling has his detractors, and my interest irn him stems from his TVR association, but he has a huge successful engineering design career, including many F1 engines.
Also I didn't realise he designed many bike engines, including the Ducati darmah, and believe it or not, Suzuki gsxr 750 !!

Knowing what I know of him and TVR (from the inside) I’m not a huge fan. I’m also sure he didn’t design the pantah engine I was under the impression that it was an in house design he may have consulted on it but not designed it. Same with the gsx-r that was hiroshi fujiwara a Suzuki engineer who was influenced by the P51 Allison engine I believe.

All his own Claims, inflated or otherwise, he's a devisive character, as I'm sure you're aware, lots of stories about him abound, and I'm aware of his TVR input, and think he was stuffed by Peter wheeler the owner, who didn't want to pay for his services, so changed the design of the engine with disastrous results, and basically f**ked the company.
He's living in Thailand now, almost blind and on his own after his wife passed not long back, having his life story dictated into a book , so if he prints a load of lies he'll get sued pretty quickly.
The bike is , I still think, an amazing design, and at the time 3kg lighter than a Duke 916.

I don’t disagree about the nemesis or what he has done. The TVR thing was as far as I can tell 6 of one and half a dozen of the other and somewhere in between is the truth. I do know that the actual ajp once sorted is an amazing motor irrespective of what went on. I’m still yet to be convinced on either the darmah or the gixxer and I know he laid claims to designing a ‘Desmodromic’ single cylinder engine for a European manufacturer but again that is not the super mono motor. A divisive figure I always thought of him as an ideas man rather than a design engineer if you know what I mean. I believe that what was asked for wasn’t delivered, he even talks about the motor not fitting. Who knows? Him, wheeler and few others. Us? Nope but it gives us something to post on a Sunday night 😁👍

Agreed, we all need characters in the world of one type of another, if we were all the same, we'd be robots.

The show last night had a brand new 250 2 stroke, nice but £35k 😯 . The 750 kettle is nearly finished and looking good. Alan Milyard broke the land speed record for 2 up on his Viper. His test ride was a new 750 honda transalp

Ah the langan ? if I had the cash I'd have one, had a good look at the engine on a stand at the bike show last year, trick thing. 70bhp, geared to 115/120mph. Henry said its either on or off, power wise. Digital injection as well as oil pump.

Just watched the last episode on catch up. 750 kettle looks fantastic. Henry asked Alan Millyard how many bikes he's stuck extra cylinders on - about 60 is the answer 😲

I've just got back from a few days in the Cotswolds. Did a trek in a lovely little village called Bibury today, and realised the Classic MotorHub, where Henry often films was just up the road, so we popped in for a coffee. Quite a few bikes there but all modern touring stuff. The Aston Martin owners club were there too. Had a look around their collection of classics for sale. All incredibly mint and stunning; 20230721_131351 by dusty miller, on Flickr 20230721_132138 by dusty miller, on Flickr 20230721_140936 by dusty miller, on Flickr Some cars were £POA, but the most expensive ticket on a windscreen I saw was £525,000 for an original AC Cobra !! The light blue Jag in the centre of the last pic had over £200,000 spent on the resto Worth a visit if you are ever in the area

Cheap for an original Cobra!
Anyone see the show tonight? WTF was the hideous thing he was riding? At least the kettle is finished and looked superb.
