First a coat of etch primer - then painted in satin black - was lucky enough to use facility at work to do the painting - again- I am no painter, but happy with the results -
I've done the same with LC wheels and it does take some faffing, but worth it in the end. The same wheels in fact that in the end I didn't use as went Hybrid!

Nice work. I've just done some LC wheels so, so feel your pain, my least favourite job on the resto. Enjoy your build, worth it in the end.

Looking really good & I agree with the satin finish and upgrading discs & shock, but I'd definitely be upgrading the motor, pipes & ignition. The engines getting done by Dave at muttsnuts - will more than likely go down zeeltronic CDI/PV controller at some point in the future , for reliability - already had a PV controller fail since I have had it - I have wrestled with whether to keep pipes stock - they are in good condition and will clean up nice I reckon - whilst I love aftermarket pipes - especially Allspeeds - I almost prefer the deeper/standard exhaust note of the original pipes - still not decided - all part of the fun ! - regards - Mac.

Forks completely rebuilt - and then voila - a rolling chassis - bars are just chucked on at this point so I can move it around - all bearings, seals, bushes etc replaced - this is up to the end of last week - so pretty much where I have got to so far - next jobs bar controls refurb, rebuild all calipers/Master Cylinder front and rear - really enjoying this phase of putting it back together and refurbing stuff as I go along now - final picture is mock up fit with all the replacement body work - pre strip down - still need to get it all to paint yet -

Wow - that rolling chassis looks superb!
Mutts will deliver you a good motor from what I've heard and pipes are personal preference as sadly it's not my bike!!

I do love a 31K, chainguard bracket looks a bit bent, but will hopefully straighten ok. Are you using jack-up doglegs or standard height ones?

I thought the same on the chain guard bracket - as its a replacement swingarm ( I had to scrap the original ) I have not seen it with the guard attached - I had to look at some other pics just to check its position and i do think its slightly bent - I think it will need a gentle nudge to straighten up - the dog legs are the same size as the originals - so should be standard ride height - they we were a bit expensive - but worth it it my view as they are really nicely made -

Great job on the restoration so far keep the pics coming👍😃 Thanks to everyone for the nice comments - bit of a slow down in work on it now as waiting for the engine - but I do plan to refurb bar controls brakes etc in the meantime - and I will post up pics on the next phases as I do them - I think I am about half way through the project - and I am one year in already. Thanks all - Mac -

Some great progress. engine looks good, I'm pretty sure it will sound as good if Dave did his magic on it. Wiring next I assume. No swearing allowed!

Very smart indeed. Love the red frame. I think the finish on the forks/footrest mounts looks spot on. I used a Scotchbright wheel in a drill to do mine.
I'm just about to start masking off a set of LC wheels. So hours of tedium to come but hopefully it will be worth it.

Thanks for the nice feedback - I have a brand new replacement loom to go on it, the original one was in a terrible state (but was all working OK when I got the bike running initially) it just looked terrible , parts of it melted/burned and had been cut into bodged up in several places - bike has had 17 owners in its life- I suspect, some of them not very skilled based on some of the bodges I have found along the way- It seemed a shame to put it back on newly painted frame etc - I must admit I am expecting a lot of 'learning' coming up !

Thanks for the feedback - just thinking about masking wheels is a terrible memory for me - the most unpleasant job of all I found - good luck with it - its a form of physical punishment - the price of ownership !

I'm at about the same stage with my latest build- standard 250LC 4L1 - and about to start on the wiring and electrics. I'm hoping to find a repaired loom somewhere in my stash, I have vague recollection of doing a load of repairs on a spare one I had when I did the same for a 350Lc a few years ago. Fingers crossed. Can be a troublesome part of the build! Good luck with yours.

Looking at that tailpiece paintwork I can't wait to see the whole scheme. Looks mouthwatering alas, the tail unit is a just slave - original is off the bike with the rest of the body / tank stuff - colour scheme is going to be stock MK1 pearl white - although I seriously thought about an Akai scheme - talked out of it by a mate though - and going for a stock paint job -

Well after an unexpected spell of (minor) illness ( the woes of being mid 50's ) progress stalled a bit - only just picking up where I left off - so brief update before had to pause - Rear calliper and master cylinder stripped / rebuild - Front callipers - I take a shortcut and purchased 2 x restored - please don't judge me , haha too good to say no to a deal on them - Front master cylinder and lever/clutch lever/perch all stripped rebuilt - and then all stop - restarting again this week - so will update as I go along - pics to follow
