Looking fantastic Chris Really lovely build, as always If you use Flikr for your pics, you upload vids in exactly the same way as photos. Take longer to upload, and I find I have to close Flikr and then open it again to see the vid ready to share, but it works fine Dusty hi dusty , I use the Tapatalk app not sure if you can do vids ? I will ask the wife she's good at the technology side π

Morning!! Maiden voyage yesterday!! Was nervous ha ha ,all went well no leeks or horrible noises,it rode Nicely very comfortable everything seemed to work as it should.just taking it up to 4 k ,I've got 42 pilot's and 138 mains in with the airbox pulling ok up to 4 k ,mutts will sort the rest next month π, it started to rain π§οΈ so I shot home as didn't want to get her wet π€£, hopefully today if it's dry I can get few more miles on it !! It will probably rain all day then be sunny tommrow when I'm back at work π. Still few bits to do but nothing major, finger's crossed π€ . First picture when I brought it , hate to think what it's cost me ππ

Whatever the cost, it's been well worth it Helluva transformation Chris, with parts and fabrication totally unique to your bike. That will draw a crowd wherever you park it for sure Beautiful build - well done Dusty

We should have a "Before and after" thread. Just 2 pics - the beginning of a build, and the end result. A separate thread to a build thread. I know there will be a lot of material to fill it Dusty

Evening everyone, Not much going on still getting the little snaggy bits done ,I've brought a digital temp guage to keep a more precise eye on the temp ,I had a spear thermostat housing kicking about so I drilled and tapped it to take the sender , there's loads of meat thicker than I thought,it tapped nicely.looks nice and neat to just give it a coat of paint then it can be fitted π Did you use a Tapered tap? I ordered a tapered tap and the pillock sent me a tapered lead parallel thread tap - not the same thing at all!! I may get away with it, but would prefer the correct taper to be safe..

Maybe I'm over thinking it & some PTFE tape/Hylomar gunk will seal it OK.

I would tap the hole to M10x1 and recut the sender to M10x1 both straight thread and mill the top surface flat and seal with the copper washer.
EDIT...
Looking at your pic, just milling the top surface perpendicular and flat would make the copper washer seal.

Hi ,no I used some locktight string and copper washer seals up lovely

Taper threads have a place in the world and this is one. Getting the 'lock' on the tapered thread is the seal I want, but my tap is parallel annoyingly.
Taping drill for 1/8 BSP is 8.7mm and for M10 IS 9.0mm (I think). My sender is 1/8 x 28 BSP Taper & I don't think it'll take the metric thread until half way up it's length due to the taper.
I'm going to do a trial run in some ally that's the same thickness as the thermostat housing as I'm thinking I may be able to use the tap lead in as a compromised taper.
Damn sight more doable than flamin wiring!

Hi everyone , LC is sort of finished!! Just needs setting up by mutts next week! I've got the jetting ok ish but I'll let mutts sort it ,he's definitely the man for the job !! I fitted the belly pan this morning,I had to make some alloy spacer's up on the lathe because it's a bespoke one off pan it's wider at the bottom so needs X2 spacer's,, I'm so happy how this turned out it's been 2 years of being out in the workshop most nights !! I think it's so cool , I just want it set up nice so I can spank it everywhere ππͺ, it's sooooo loud and offensive πI think everyone hats me up my road now well if they don't they will when I leave for work at 6,30 am in the summer πππ.. Bike rides lovely steers ,stops ,goes up n down the gears beautiful, no vibration or horrible knocking chain run is smooth all good ,( must all be a fluke) ha ha , thanks to everyone who's helped me !! Steve ( midlife) especially, the man !!! ,Great forum great guys ππ ,Chris

Your Elsie is stunning & a real credit to you Chris - well done. Thanks for keeping us all entertained along the way & for the few tips I may have pinched from you!
Mine's running nicely and all sealed up OK. I've some more flamin wiring which never seems to end and the Keihn float heights needs reducing to stop the bowls overflowing a little - think it's the angle they sit at..
Enjoy the sunny weekend and ride safe!

I'm looking forward to seeing it finished! Me too as I'm really keen to see how it rides and how the motor performs post dyno set up - lots to do yet. Trouble is I know me & will need another project although I have another Cota trials bike in bits to keep me tinkering for a while.
