This comment sums it up for me
I'd like to as a proud ' English man ' say well done but the dragging of F1 and its drivers likely bullied into ' knee gate ' all for ' his ' ' virtue signalling ' antics are for me sickening and that's not what I'd like to say ! Remember your ' mother's ' heritage too !

Tumbleweed? Well I've seen tumbleweed on the move... and believe me.. there was a lot more overtaking going on... Maybe we should have tumbleweed races... Lewis would probably win that as well. Whatever you think of him... the F1 goat... must be a pisser being a team mate to him!

Perhaps I should elucidate on my comment. I agree Hamilton is a very talented driver but many years ago my godson, then aged 5, was taken by his dad to see Hamilton during an out of season test run. His dad has quite a few motoring connections. Anyway, session over and dad asked Hamilton's press secretary (really? A press secretary??) if he could sign his son's baseball hat as it would make his year. The secretary said of course he would and would be out in about 15 minutes. 3 hours go by and the secretary was walking away to her car and the dad asked what happened? Her reply was Mr Hamilton does NOT sign children's hats. Exit dad and my distraught godson amidst floods of tears.
So in my eyes he's a tosser. And a cheat. But aren't they all cheats to some extent?? Yes Senna was ruthless but damn he had some serious talent. And he gave away millions to help orphans. And he leapt out of his car mid race to save another driver. Most modern F1 drivers also say any one of them could win the world title in Hamilton's car...make what you will of that.
So I'll stick to Senna being the greatest ever driver. Sorry!
Alex

Why can't they all be like the late Stirling Moss, the way he treated all his fans etc.

Ah the days when you could hear them , see them slide , wrestle with the steering wheel and not be told by their crew when to overtake..

If you look at it all on paper, yes Hamilton is the greatest driver ever. But todays cars are so sanitised compared to the monsters they used to race. 1000+bhp turbos with awful brakes, terrible tyres, terrifying handling in the dry and wet and only a nod to any driver safety. In the days of Hunt and Lauda (see Rush) an average of 2 drivers died every season. These drivers had manual gear boxes and zero driver aids. Not even a drink bottle. If you lined up Senna and Hamilton in a period car there would be no contest. Anyone remember that epic Monaco race ending where Senna on totally knackered tyres and with a lot less powerful engine kept Mansell (on fresh tyres and a mighty lump powering them) behind him to win? Mansell collapsed getting out of the car. Now THAT is epic driving.

Hi Alex Totally agree I think the golden age of F1 was then and just before the war when auto union and Mercedes were top dogs In the early 2002 to 2004 I worked at a company called Crosswaite and Gardener in Sussex where we built replica auto unions and Mercedes Benz silver arrows replicas in house even down to the nuts and bolts No safety cage or other safety items and defiantly no tech Just a large wooden steering wheel, a ladder frame chassis and a mid mounted supercharged v12 or v16 with skinny tyres and big huge drums brakes with four leading shoes😳 Here is a link to the car they built for Bernie Eclestone Ian Mac on the throttle and Snags on the starter and me round the corner by the green D type you can see in the film footage😁 I will alway remember that noise and shear power of that v16 I heard it cost a cool £800,000 to build and took over 13,000 hours to build Also at the time we also built a v12 for Audi for the good wood festival is speed as there are only two original auto unions in existence one at Audis museum and the other (chassis 21 ) that at the time I was there was owned I head by the CEO of Nintendo that the won the 1939 Paris Gp before war broke out These cars were the most powerful cars until the turbo era and the drivers were true hero’s of their day in my book Best wishes Al

I would go with Jim Clark. A legend and a great all round champ. Got to agree, he was also winning touring car races while winning in F1 to me no comparison with today's drivers, too dependent on just having the best car

Probably nothing to do with Lewis, and more to do with his advisors, management and moneymen, legal tosspots and other hangers on which saddly they all seem to have and need nowadays.

Defo an idiot or his advisors are, that legal action was never going to work. If he had won, the flood gates could open... I would go after these people trading on my good name: www.wallis.co.uk/

Wow... a Brit to be proud of? Admittedly successful, but a totally self obsessed knobhead with no real redeeming character whatsoever.
