Not yet I checked one out today but it had a couple of little issues I was not aware of and a problem with the clutch. I’m crap with engine mechanics so I did not take it on. So still looking.

What one did you see ?.
You'll be lucky to find a perfect bike that needs nothing at all given the nature of the beasts lol
Dusty's no good or not Hybrid enough ?.

As looey says they are near 40 years old so even if there is nothing wrong with it....
....there soon will be 🤣

Tbh you will struggle to get a perfect hybrid for £5k. They cost a fortune to build and Dave’s at £7k is a bargain. At £5k you are likely to get one needing some work. That in its self isn’t a problem there are enough folks on here to help you solve any problems. I hope you find what you’re after .

What veg said
I've kept a tally on the LC hybrid build. I don't usually do this but as someone else is paying the bills
Total spend was £12,152.00
A 5k hybrid isn't going to be perfect
It's a sad fact I'm afraid 🙁

If you are lacking those skills and you try to build/fix a £5k bike you will spend £3k in the blink of an eye. Muttsnuts at £7k is a bargain. Put the key in and go. I wouldn't entertain anything less than £8k for mine

Like Steve has said I stopped counting when I hit mid £teens. Look at one maybe at a dealers and prepare to haggle. Or put an advert in wanted with your absolute limit. Someone may be wanting to off load. The problem is who has built it? These are old bikes try to get someone to view it with you that knows these things but again you cannot count for all eventualities. I’m not trying to put you off as these bikes are like crack for 40/50 somethings just trying to be realistic. Good luck. Also let us know where you are based 👍

I can appreciate the work that’s gone into mutts bike and it is amazing just not to my taste really. I see a couple of really nice ones sell last year for 5-5.5k so was kind of basing my figures on those.

With dusty’s hybrid I was really looking for a usd front end, but the front end he has on there looks really nice so I can let that one slide, but I also wanted a front and rear end that would allow me to run a wider set of tyres just personal preference. Which I cannot with dusty’s bike. But everything else with the bike I absolutely love. So I guess it’s all about weighing up the lack of wider tyres with the rest of the bike that would be perfect.

Yeah, modern radial rubber on larger rims makes a big difference when coupled with better suspension and brakes

I thought about getting a tzr or rgv but I have no idea what the power difference would be. Also thought about seeing if I could pick up a miti 350 but not sure if the bike it’s self would be a bit small for me.

Decent rgv or later tzr will pee all over a std lc std lc are slow and don’t handle or brake but by god they are fun, the more modern you go the better and more accomplished the bikes are. You have to remember though these aren’t reliable diesels and need riding to get them going. Lc’s have the look and the kudos but to get them handling better and going better you need to spend lots then it is limited in the returns something like phils tzr will pee all over them. Later Ypvs are ever so slightly after and better handling but again fairly basic unless again you are prepared to invest time and money. It really comes down to what you want out of a bike? Is it a nostalgia trip?

£6k will buy mine and that will include a full years MoT on it, just run it on the dyno this afternoon ready for selling it, ran 62bhp, and I did over 1500 miles on it last year, including in the rain several times, it goes really well, stops on a pin, handles like a demon and is a used bike, so has the odd mark etc, its a good all round bike and is ready to ride all year round if you wanted, there is room to improve if you want as a good clean and some personal topuches would make it mint again, but I am for riding them and last year the bike did an 800 mile trip in 3 days, 2 track days round Cadwell and Donnington and use a good few weekends, give me 2 ticks and I'll post some pictures up that I took tjis afternoon of it - its about to go on ebay, so fi you are interested you'd better be quick as I want this gone by this time next week as I am stuck for space and my next project is ready for the road

its provisonally sold, didn't think it would hang around long, that bike would cost easily over £8k to build now and it has all of my latest electronics on it (well since it is/was my bike, what do you expect !)
