Simple question/complicated answer(s). Got my 4U0 350 engine torn apart on the bench in the basement for complete rebuild, and got to thinking about getting a mild tune on it. Will be running standard 4U0-00 carbs or PWK28's. Vforce3 V384A reeds with spacers. Standard airbox. RZ350/LC2 pipes modded to fit the LC chassis (or proper pipes when budget allows). Not overly concerned with peak HP. Looking for an all-round road tune, emphasizing midrange if possible. Not asking you pro tuners to give away your trade secrets, but would love some insight on what to do and what not to do. I've been told it's a fine line with an LC, and very easy to go too far and make it unpleasant on the road. Will likely be sending it off to someone here in the States, but as these were not sold here, I'm met with some blank stares when we start talking LC tuning. TIA!

It's a pity you are on the other side of the water
A set of muttsnuts midrange pipes would do more than a tickle on the ports for midrange punch
That's where I'd be spending my money rather than carbs/reeds/tune

There was a UK chap, went by the name Slinger, who moved to Canada. He used to do some great tuning work and did stuff for me. Not sure what the shipping situation to Canada would be for you. However, last I read he was concentrating more on outboards these days. Have you asked on the RZ/RD forum? They have an LC specific forum and should have some ideas. A chap called Scott used to get recommendations but I know nothing about him personally: home.earthlink.net/~scloughn/id14.html

The article and comments do back up what I thought. Good pipes and good setup is the short answer. Head skim, ignition and intake is the slightly longer answer.

Also worth looking at Ed Erlenbach s website . A well respected 2 stroke man in the USA , and holder of at least one land speed record on an RD250 . Plenty of port maps and other great info .

Plenty of options for tuners here. Scott Clough worked on my TDR many years ago. Ed E, Chuck Quenzler, etc. Really just looking for real world experience from those that know the LC best.
