It does look like a great example but seriously, even if it is worth 10k+, how many people out there who would actually part with that sum of money for a standard LC?

Only joking, they all came out with plain black barrels just that most people polish the bands

Private listing - bidder identity protected seems strange!! but sure looks a great example of a standard 4L0. Not many left now as most have been modified and made into hybrids etc which effects the authenticity price/value.. 10k is strong money but will be interesting to see the hammer price

Surprising Bid numbers.. If real. I know of 4 (used to be 5 but one recently moved) within a ~ 2 mile radius of me. All are in damned good condition, Original paintwork at least, being 2nd to 3rd owner bikes. That Ebay price is likely 4X times what any Locals here would sell their LC's for. Why? are some willing to pay so much. Astounded is all.

That is utter madness imho. This hobby of ours is in danger of getting seriously out of control if this is where prices are heading.
Thankfully the fever hasn't spread this far yet but prices in Oz have been rising inexorably over the last 10 years, so I am very glad I bought all my bikes before they became unaffordable.
Kind of makes up (a little) for selling my 3 owner RD400E for £850 in 2005. 😳

This used to wind me up, nearly as much as people having a usable bike for display only. But if you have the money and that's what you want to do then it's their choice. Personally I like tinkering and riding my bikes, but it appears that type of biking isn't for everyone. I smile and ignore them. There are plenty of sensible priced bikes and parts out there. Will it actually affect the people that use this forum, probably not. The only people to get caught up/caught out are the naive, the obscenely rich or just plain stupid. A last point though if all the work was done by a restoration co. then yes it could cost £14k (see previous sentence).

even if a restoration company did the work would it cost that much? how many hours for a nut and bolt resto?
40 hours actual work? say £100 a hour £4000 but say £5000 engine rebuild £600+ frame powder coated £100+ new tank £380 plastics £200 then tyres wheels bearing exhausts plus new switchgear ect, and paint a £1500?
I make that around £7500 I am not taking into account him buying the bike, he does say 14k for resto
maybe its me being a tight taff

if only it took 40hrs to restore a bike... I spent more than that cleaning, cataloging, searching for parts! Engine rebuilt is 600quid? seals, bearings, cranks, pistons, rebore, oil and waters, pump to Arrow... oops... ive blown the budget!
Anyway, Im not siding with the seller, it does seen excessive at 14k, but I know a bloke here who spent that on his LC4 in AUD, and some might argue that there was more he could have done. NOS parts and paint were his big costs, and he did a fair chunk of the work himself...
no one restores of these to get rich.

having restored too many LC's than I care to remember, to do one correctly takes between 100hrs to 120hrs of effort, but that does include measuring, checking, cleaning, etc, etc, unless you happen to have every single part required new in boxes, then refurbing/overhauling parts does take time and resources
