Hi Mouse it looks good. What's the shark fin for or do? Hi Tobyjugs The 'sharks fin' is the bit attached to the underside of the swingarm, in front of the rear sprocket, looks like an up turned 'sharks fin'! The idea is if you have an 'off' it stops your foot getting caught in the chain/rear sprocket. It is required on all solo race bikes in the UK. I do not race but a couple of years ago i wanted to do a parade at a Bemsee meeting at Brands Hatch and they told me the bike had to be to race spec, so now days i fit a sharks fin plus some lock wiring etc. to both my hybrids Mouse

Hi Mouse, I'm at the early stages yet, NK is sorting swinging arm and yokes, frame etc away with powder coaters and engine stripped. It'll be a slow but steady process, I've done the worse part now I think. The rebuilding is much more fun.

Mouse, the bikes looking fabulous- I much prefer the P arm. Everywhere I look, I see little details, that make this (reincarnated) bike such a polished article. Great work. Your on the home straight now mate

Many thanks Kevm, yes, you are not wrong! Philmill, glad yours is moving ahead, i love the build too. Cheers Yamark, i have a banana arm on my 4LO hybrid and both pipes exit on one side so it makes sense, however on this one there is one pipe per side so no need for the banana arm, it makes them slightly different too.

Not had much to post recently, however the other weekend i took the bike along with the bodywork to Yorkshire via Derbyshire. Was desperate to get this done before the ACL surgery on my knee.
So 9th March i collect the hire van and head north. First stop, Mr Cordwell in Derbyshire to drop off the bodywork for painting. I have never seen so many 4LO petrol tanks, i counted 22! Plus my 31k and one other 31k. Mark is a lovely guy and his paintwork is the best i have seen, so let's hope he does not jack it in!
Then on to North Yorkshire, stayed Friday night with my friends and headed over to Muttsnuts on Saturday morning. Dave is going supply and fit, plus set up a new pair of pipes, with more ground clearance!
I was blown away with Dave's set up, really professional and he seems to have all the machinery in-house to do whatever is needed, plus i experienced a healthy dose of northern hospitality!
Loudpipes was there with his hybrid special and that is going to be on e beautiful bike.
So, got home from Yorkshire on the Saturday, 540 miles and £89 lighter. I think the van hire cost is pretty good seeing as i didn't have to return it until Monday.
On Tuesday 13th i went into hospital and had the ACL reconstruction on my knee, home the same day. So now i wait, going stir crazy at home! But in a few weeks hopefully the bike should return, then the paintwork and i can do a final assembly, not sure when the doc will let me ride again!

Hi mate Glad you got your bike up to Mutt's place before your op - it's gonna be ready to go by the time you've recovered, which is great. And Mark Cordwell is a great fella, and an excellent painter for sure. I'm not surprised he is inundated with Lc paint sets ! I bet he could do them with his eyes shut now !! Hopefully the op will be the final part of your knee problem. Once you've recovered I'm sure it will be better than ever, and you can go and fly tip the exercise bike !! Speak soon Dusty

Blimey that sounds scary mouse, great that you got the bike up to mutts and also the tank etc into paint before your opp, now you have something brill to look forward too when your knee is feeling a little better. Can’t believe you were out the same day as the Opp... fantastic how things have moved on and I’m sure that means the recovery will be quicker! All the best Matey, stay strong 💪 Dono

Thanks Dusty, Phil and Dono.
Still hobbling about but had my stitches out today, so i can have a proper shower now!! I have three tiny scars plus one a couple of inches long around my knee, i can't believe that they managed to fix everything and get a camera in too!
Also had a call from Muttnuts, bike is done and she will be home soon.
Engine is tuned but is running an airbox and standard carbs plus the new pipes and she makes 66.3 RWHP!! I am really impressed
Just waiting for the bodywork now.

The results from the pipes look brilliant😁 Looks like youve gained about 14bhp just by using those ? Its gonna ride like a completely different bike. Worth the trip to Malton, and well done Mutts 😉

Thanks Mr K, Dusty and Dono, made me laugh!
Yes Dusty, i'm really impressed, can't wait to compare it to the black one, that is 68 RWHP
Hi Tobyjugs, yes standard reeds, carbs, air filter and airbox, snorkel removed, 'wicked head' MBD tune and Mutt's pipes, that's all!

I bought some 2nd hand V3 reeds From Jess it pushed my end result just into the 70's before that it was similar to yours although engine spec was different. Could be worth the punt.
