Clutch arrived the other day so all fitted along with "arrow" oil pump and refurbed water pump All ready to fit now My wife's away for the weekend, she'd be so happy that I did the dishes Back to repair/refurb of clock covers as the near perfect one I bought was "lost" by Hermes so well p1ssed off with them. Got 2 covers with good glass but no surround and 2 with surround but cracked glass a bit of bondage is on the cards. Ill pop up pics of how it goes Steve

Did some surgery over the last couple of days Cover 1 with broken surround cut out and door surround ready for plastic repair. Using Q bond to repair. V cut on inner face of meeting joints, outer face taped to stop filler powder falling through when groove is filled and liquid poured over powder All bonded and joint given a skim of 1k filler to fill imperfections Masked it up and painted only the repair face with Simoniz tough gloss Cover 2 I decided to try a different method as a bit of trial and error. Cover and donor surround/broken piece ready for cutting Cut this one on the curve as it meets the surround then bonded and filled with P38 filler For some reason it would not take paint on the donor section. Tried twice and it just mottled so stripped off the surround where it reacted, sanded and polished. A bit more plastic polish needed but getting there First cover cleaned up and polished. Quite pleased with Myself now Steve

Looking for a project for my self. May I ask how much you paid. Never had anything to do with these bikes so have no idea on the price range. Cheers rob. I paid 1150 for this one. Cheap as it was an unregistered non runner but still cheap If it was a UK non runner it would be 1500 upwards. I've seen some go for near 2k on ebay if a complete UK bike but that's just mental eBay Steve

OK, OK! I know I said daily rider but slight change of plan. Nothing that cant be reversed but going lightly upgraded Couldn't resist doing it with the mods mine had back in the day and some upgrades First thing Picked it up second hand so had new bushes made and the fittings re zinced. Didn't want to keep polishing it and my garage ain't the driest so had it powder coated for a more durable finish. Steve

Nice finish on the swing arm - is it just silver powder coated?
Look forward to seeing the revived bike.

Thanks Steve, yep I've heard of it but never seen it before. Have you got any other photos of the finish. Cheers Rich That's the only one I have just now. I believe the chrome stuff from camcoat is more like chrome Most places that do car wheels will have the alloy type, usually got samples on display Steve

Pressure tested the motor tonight. Held 5 psi with no loss so all good Time to fit it along with the swinger, suspension and mudguards. Nice pair of BDK dog bones to compliment the swinger and a new shock - spot the mistake Need to clean the loom and get it fitted tomorrow. Steve

Getting bits done here and there Clocks built and fitted, switch gear refurbished Master cylinder re painted, new site glass kit fitted and a repair kit Footplates and pegs fitted. Was lucky to find an original set of plates that were taken off a near new bike heading for the track. Re plated kick start and brake pedal turned out well Rear caliper refurbed Think I'm going to have to give in and buy a new metmachex spindle. There is slight damage to one of the slots on the shaft so some play when adjusting. Steve

Coming along nicely Steve Bit of a kick in the nuts with the spindle though Matt I might be OK. One end of the eccentric adjusters has a slot and there is a corresponding slot and woodruff key in the bolt end of the spindle to locate in it. The other adjuster has a pin in the spindle hole and at the threaded end of the spindle there is a slot it locates in. Right at the bit the pin sits in the slot it is distorted slightly so there is play in the adjustment at one end so it twists and jams. Haven't tried it yet but it just dawned on me that if I undo the nut 5mm then tap the shaft over a bit the pin will not be on the damaged bit so should work 130 quid is ridiculous for a spindle is ridiculous for a non one off part. I did ask them for a price for the spindle and the 2 pivot bearing sleeves (not even the bearings) and it was near 200 quid To make it worse the woodruff key was missing and the thread was damaged so I have already paid for it to be repaired then re zincd. Steve

They really take the piss on prices I was gutted when I realised I hadn't lost mine just misplaced it and their attitude is no better than their prices.
