I am considering turning to the dark side and some feedback / advice would be most welcome, now dont get me wrong I love my LC I am grateful to it for re introducing me to the delights of two wheels again after 20 + years away however, as a daily ride the constant fetling and search for parts ect is driving me to despair and constant confrontation with the wife so I have hatched a plan whereas I buy Four stroke ( please dont scoff) for daily use and keep the LC for occasional jaunts and meets - perfect ! Which Four Stroke? I dont want some sterile gutless hunk of junk so the below add really appealed to me, comparing a four stroke to an RD 350 LC seems like the perfect compromise for my dilemma but being over 50 years old I have learnt many times the hard way that advertising is usually for the benefit of the manufactures and not the clients. So my first question is, do any forum members have a Yamaha MT 07 HO (High Output Version) if so your opinion would be very welcome and my second question would be if you were me and buying a four stroke what would you buy? (budget about £5000 or $10,000 AUD) I prefer naked bikes as we dont get an awful lot of rain here in WA and besides I am a fair weather rider I have booked a test ride next week so I will put up my opinion up after that but I am really interested to hear of any other bikes that would be better or comparable to the Yamaha MT 07 or is as I fear the advertising misleading. Cheers Paul

I have 1 x 250LC 2 x 350LC and an MT07 I get as much enjoyment from the MT07 as I do the LC's. I rode the 350 down to my dealers got of it and took there MT07 demo bike out after an hour I came back and bought one.

+ 1 for the mt 07. I had one last summer and loved it, fast, light and unbelievably good on fuel. But it isn't a 2 stroke..

Do you want a LAMS approved bike, if so look at the FZ6R, if you remove the collar around the accelerator cable at the throttle body you get a 600 with full power, smooth bike too, if you want to ride one come down here and you can take the missuses one out, its an FZ6S not LAMS or if you don't want lams the full monty FZ6 or MT09 or the Tracer, dollars will dictate a bit though
I also know where there is a CBR500 for sale, a mate of mine has it on consignment at Honda Shop Midland, he would probably take it out of there if the dollars were right, its had a lowering link in it too, oggy knobs and a fly screen

I test rode a MT09 just over year ago , it was a nice bike, it rode well around the roads near the NEC, not sure if I was over keen on the look of the bike but the performance was ok. My mate bought an MT07 he said he is well pleased with it .

Hi Howard, No, I want the High Output version something new or near new as I want hassle free riding ie as Yogi mentioned push button and go. I'm Fetled out What time does your flight get in on the 20th March ? I should be going to the Jap bike show at Burswood about 10.00 ish but we can tie up a time to meet, we could perhaps pop into the Casino after for a beer or two after. Hi Paul
I fly in at about 12, hence a 1pm meet, I'm attempting to get the flight changed to the Saturday night, I'll let you know the outcome
Happy hunting, there's plenty to choose from out there, the only thing about the MT07/09 are the pitifully small fuel tanks, particularly the 9
Regards
Howard

So I test rode the MT 07 the other day, I was sorley tempted to put down a deposit right there and then its a great little bike with plenty of low down punch the front shocks were a little soft for my liking so I would probably get some harder springs however it definitely goes onto the short list - very tempted !
