Well the weekend has come and gone... Bit more done, not quite where I wanted to be but a result I guess... Carbs, which have been fully rebuilt have now been fitted... Oil pump primed... Transmission oil put in... Time to fit radiator and exhausts... Un boxed the recently re- chromed Micron's, done by Sean from Agbrigg...fitted... Finally tracked down a UK spec headlamp, with new rims, etc... Fitted and set up as well I can on my workshop wall....Then time to unwrap the tank... Brackets and new fuel tap fitted... All bolted on and some fresh Aspen fuel in the tank... Two kicks and we were into life.... And if I could work how to upload video, I would prove it... Sounds good... Had lifted the needles one , bit seemed a bit flat, so dropped them back to middle position and now sounds as crisp as anything... Did bleed the autolube lines and set up and sync the carbs..... just got the head to re-torque... And fit the rest of the panel work ... Then MOT time... But needs to get a bit warmer, and drier before that happens... Well I guess time for some continuation photo's ... Not the best but still moving forward, and now I've had a tune, well happy... Seems sweet, all gears select and clutch is working fine... Result, I'd say... So all good, finishing post in sight.... Looking forward to a blast up the road... One happy bunny..!! Gav

So close, but lots of little jobs to do, that all stack up...and sometimes the finishing touches take longer than you think.... When I built my carbs, I fitted standard everything... 185 mains etc...As when I took it all to bits the Micron's were already fitted and std jets were present... So I thought it would be a good starting point... I did lift the needles one, and it was really, fluffy from tickover and bogged down, but revved cleanly up the range, as much as you can on a fresh engine in a garage..!!, so dropped the needles back to centre and it's as crisp as you like... Be interesting to see what it's like on the road... And quick plug chop will help...Arrow built the pump, which is slightly updated, so I hope that will give me a little protection in the lube department...I always thought you had to up jet size with Micron's by 1 or 2 sizes but seems very contevertial when you talk to people so we will just have to see... With the lack of a local dyne..it's play time like the old days...!! Gav

Heck budgie, you don't do stuff by half measures! Stunning build. Total credit to you. Thanks Arrow.... I have only tried to match the quality of your pump rebuilds to the quality of my build... didn't want your pump showing it up.. ... Think my next project may be a little more challenging.... !! and may need to sell a kidney to fund it.... Gavin

I am really happy with this one...so much so, I keep going back in the workshop and just starting it and blipping the throttle...funny, as I have a 31k and a RG500... Both on std pipes... And this sounds soooooo sweet... Can't wait for the better weather... Gav

Interesting. Will look out for that. Ha ha, hoping to get started straight off the back of this one... Two choices of what to do next... Question is which one... 2 stroke or the four stroke... . .. Whilst I have your attention... Do you do Suzuki pumps too..? Or just the Yam ones? Hope the knees heeling well... Sick of daytime to yet?... Gav

you asked me to get back to you with jets im running Gav . it was on 185 jets in both with microns and snorkle still in airbox i try'd the needle in the top and the bottom but just ran crap ,it would get the the powerband and choke up bad just wouldnt pull so dave muttsnutts said drop jet sizes as it ran better the lower i had the needle ,i was 1 off the top notch at this point so i asked about taking the snorkle out of the airbox ,which you need to go up a size on main jet or 2 sizes . so im still on 185's but have taken the snorkle out and it runs really nice now pulls well all the way to 10;000 revs going to drop the needle a bit as its on second from bottom so going to put both on second from the top and then check the plugs . let me know how you get on mate ! whats this next project ? pm me if you dont want to say on here yet

Not sure how I missed your post?? Dohhhh.... I have mine up and running, all sounds good, although I have only run it for a few min's.. To warm it through, cycle it and re- torque the head... I am on 185's and needle set central, on completely std air box set up... All sounds crisp, although I will not wring its neck for some time, as I need to run it in.... But I have tonight put the last panels on.. And dare I say I'm done..!! I just need to get it to dry up and get a test in it.. So here it is.. So there we go..!! Onwards and upwards... And onto the next project... Although I have a few jobs to do first.. Rebuild the race scooter ready for RAF Wittering Mopedathon being first on the list, as it needs to be ready for end April... Then...??.?.. Bit of a choice... Either ...a Honda CB350 Race bike for full rebuild.. Ready for a few track days... Or whilst I'm in the swing of RD's. .. I still have a 350 F2 that's been made to look like a 31K...that I quite fancy making it into a nice track day bike... Thinking I may be able to get it built before Cadwell in July???.. Just a thought!!! Need to get my head round that one..!! Don't want to throw a fortune at it.. And I have lots of bits to build something? Watch this space I guess... Gav
