I am not sure on the total bill, but it's beyond its worth I guess, but it's definitely a keeper, to go with my 31K....I am really keen to get it finished, as I have a couple of other projects bubbling away that I am keen to be on with....just can't decide which to do next....and somewhere in the middle I have just got my planning permission through for a new garage, so need to get that underway too.... problem is is piggy bank is looking fairly empty at the minute...!! Which I guess will be the main deciding factor in all of it..!! Gav

Well, I am happy to have got one of the jobs I hate well out of the way...brake calipers....they were in a really bad way, but stripped, blasted and painted...re-sealed, new pistons and put back together with new pads all round.......not the best starting points in respect of the state of the calipers, and I will look out for some better looking ones, but they are sound, all be they are more pitted than i would have liked...have to remember ....its for riding...not just looking at...! But at least another crappy job off my list..!! Gav

Cheers, "building bikes for a living".... How cool would that be....I know I'd make fu*k all out of it, because it takes too long and I spend too much....but I actually love doing it and have geared myself up to do most jobs... Just need to get my head around plating...and painting...not rattle cans ... I am going to have a go at doing something about that...looking into some spray courses now...not sure if I have the patience though...!! Gav

Coming along very nicely mate and frame looks great, is it paint or powder? Keep up the good work. Have you given yourself a deadline for completion?

Coming along very nicely mate and frame looks great, is it paint or powder? Keep up the good work. Have you given yourself a deadline for completion? Hi, buzzing along nicely now, and as Eyrey suggested, did a few sub assembly's so should go together quite quickly....no real timeframe.... But would like to have together by the end of Feb...as I really want to crack on with my next project...as regards to the frame , it's paint...frame, swinger and bodywork (tank, panels etc) all done by Colour Worx in Sc**thorpe, not the cheapest, but really consistent quality...more than happy...I have promised my self that one day I would like to have a go at doing it myself...just time and confidence is the problem... Who knows, I have one or two bikes stockpiled for future restoration that are not really that sought after so spending top money on paint may not be as viable for me...? Maybe I just need to find a paint course or something...? Food for thought...! Gav

It all looks better than how they did when they left the factory Cheers for that... I think most restorations are now far better than the factory builds, but I guess we all spend so much time with attention to detail, and the only negative being they all cost so much to do now, nothing's cheap and I guess I'm no exception, it costs many times more than when the bike was new....I think I spent more than the original RRP of the bike on genuine nuts, bolts, washers etc...Lol...But it's not about the money....or that's what I keep telling the wife...!!! That paint on the plastics look great mate is it a smooth finish ? Hi Yes I love the paint I use for that, it just sprays on easily, with a super finish that I just cant get any other way... Its smooth and looks factory fresh... even responds well if you polish up a bit with autoglym polish too..!!... really for me its been a great find, was recommended to me by a local car restorer... Just about to buy some more...!! Gav

Few more bits bolted on over the weekend....not as many as I wanted, as man flue has taken hold .....but progress has been made and the direction is still definitely forward...! Managed to get the controls all on, still got to work out a few cable routes etc... Rubber fitted... Went with Avon's... Only because I have them on my 31k..and they seem OK..!! And then once the rubber was on it seemed rude not to pop them into the chassis..!! And then the rear...even got the brakes on...still got to bleed them..!! So got carried away and put the engine in..starting to look more like a bike now... And assembly is soooooo much easier when it's all in big bits, and assembly's have been pre built and components restored ready to bolt on... So that's where I'm at, wiring next...!! Bugger I hate wiring...but the loom I have is as near as you could get without being NOS?..so hopefully straightforward.... Gav

Thanks for the comments guys, keeps me motivated...especially on these cold nights.... Few more bits fitted, and tackled the wiring, of sorts... Managed to buy a really good nearly NOS loom, which has made everything easier... So fitted a few lights, layed the loom in, and connected it all up.. Trying to follow the manual to get the loom to lay in the correct place, why does it never seem to fit quite as you want... But think I'm nearly there, and when all powered up all worked first time... happy Days..!!! Even got a spark..!! So I have a few nights work to do with little jobs... You know the ones that seem to take longer than the larger ones... I have some brakes to Finnish and bleed....even fitted the number plate...but moving forward to my planned Finnish date which is end of Feb.... Hopefully!!!!! Then decided that I could just fit the new chain and guard....another box ticked..! Can't see a lot happening now for a few days now... Work a bit crazy and a planned trip to Sheffield Arena Cross on Saturday.... Can't wait..!! Gavin

That my friend is looking mighty fine!! what finish is on the foot rest hangers? Hi Thanks for the comment... The footrests were glass bead blasted, followed by a trip through an aqua blaster to lustre the Finnish... Then the flat part near the footrest and heal plate was polished...bit of a labour of love, but happy with the Finnish... Feels good to be getting nearer the start up..!! Exhausts this weekend... Ohh and brake bleeding....!!! Gav
