Bought an LC2/31K a while back and only just got round to looking at it, and now that I have I am not sure if the bike is correct, the paperwork etc is all in order as is the MoT etc (until Sept next year), its down as a matching numbers UK bike and the numbers certainly tally etc. What has me thinking there is something odd is that the frame has a fairing bracket on the head stock and also the steering lock on the side, plus a fairing bracket on each side (see photo below), and I know the UK 31K didn't have them, but I am wondering if the F1 did as I think they where 31k designation as well. The bike was registered on a "C" plate (late 1985), so it could be an F1 that has been made to look like an LC2 or could be have been re-framed, if so, then the numbers stamped on the headstock are bloody good as they look pretty damn correct to me Anyway, some picture below, thoughts, comments please as I am looking to sell it as I've found a much nicer example that I am keeping .......

its truly bizarre though that its down as a UK bike from new - maybe one of the very earliest "grey" imports that hit the UK in the 80's ? anyway, sounds like its genuine, if a little confused as to what it thinks it is !! Its going up for sale anyway, but I wanted to be sure it was all above board and I couldn't make my mind up ! Thanks for that

looks like I'll lose money on it, but hey-ho, its gotta go and I like to be honest about things I am selling and I didn't want to advertise it as an LC2/31k when I wasn't sure myself - bloody looks like one mind !

31k 0077 onward is n1
If v5 states it is UK model then that is correct
All UK n1 and f1 models had the steering lock on the side of the headstock
Mine is a late UK n1 ( 1986 D reg 31k 0078) and indeed has the brackets and the steering lock separate

Not sure if this is relevant, but my 07 R1 was UK first registered but is a USA model. I contacted Yamaha who said if the model is selling well but stocks are very low, it's not unheard to ship "other counties" bikes.
Might be the reason

Oh and it has n1/f1 forks
What clocks does it have on it?
Also check the cdi to see what code it has to work out what's n1 and what's not
The more n1 it is the better

Looks like it mate Someone has went to a lot of trouble converting that then as they will have had to split the motor to fit the mechanical tacho drive. Steve

Get some pics up mate and we will let ya know what's what, maybe rebuilt from an lc2 donor bike That's my worry Frame/cases/forks may be the only n1 well guys it gets more curious, the tacho is electronic, no cable, but the clocks are kidney ones and look identical to 31k ones, so exactly how that has been done I am not sure, the CDI is a 52Y-50 unit, so not sure if that's an N1 or not Still looking at other bits and bobs, had it running briefly, sounds like it needs a rebore as little rattly top end wise, got a nice set of microns on it though ! I'll dig the camera out tomorrow and take some pictures, not sure what else I need to check but suspect the swinging arm, rear brake caliper etc will be different as well if its a N1 ? Any pointers would be helpful, is the tank different as well ?
