Just bought a stator plate for an LC off ebay, said it came off a "seized" bike and that there was "a good chance it was sound", ok I thinks, so I bid on it and won it for £37+ P+P (£45 in total) thinking the chap doesn't know how to test them so fair do's.
Anyway, needless to say, it arrives, I test it and its shagged, so I send a message back to the guy saying as such, his response is a peach, it clearly shows he know's how to test them and that this one was shagged, rather than just say that, he misleads people with some "half-assed" clever wording and thinks, ok, I'll have your dosh thanks very much, what a complete t**t, whatever happened to honest people, another example of ebay allowing people to get away with selling shit as something else
You'd think I'd know better by now, anyway, the ebay id is davcb1260
no idea if he is on here or not (and I don't care if he is !), if he is he should be ashamed of himself, if he isn't, I'd suggest you watch what you buy, he's going on my band list !
I sent this;
"Hi, got the stator plate today, however, I've checked the windings and the low side windings are out of tolerance (228 ohms instead of 271 +/- 10%) by a long way which means they will not work correctly. This is rather unfortunate as the other components are fine, but needless to say this item is not suitable Please advise on how you wish to proceed Regards Dave"
His response is below;
"hi sorry your not happy with the stator plate, it came to me on a seized engine as stated, i also stated that theres a good chance its sound, i never stated it was working, if i had tested it and found it to be working the auction starting price would have been £45, i never tested it so i started the auction at £10 which was a fair price for one that needs rewinding if it was found to be faulty, so how did the item not match the description, whilst watching your auction fever i thought to myself this chap likes a gamble, if you had got it for £10 would you still be asking for a refund "
At which point I said back;
"umm, so what I take from that is that you knew it was faulty as otherwise you would have started it at a higher price. You clearly know how to test them and since its such a quick job I fail to see how you wouldn't do such a test if you reckon a good working item is worth so much more. In respect of gambling, I don't gamble, I bid for an item that was portrayed as "a good chance it was sound", which suggested you didn't know how to test them, which is clearly not the case from your well articulated response and knowledge of such things. Rather disappointing to say the least"
in respect of his last bit about getting it for £10, I would ahbve still asked for a refund, I don't need anymore shagged stators !

Dave did you pay by paypal? I regularly get messages from paypal reminding me they going to process my payments 2 weeks after the transaction. I'm not sure if i did anything or its a default paypal setting but seems to come up for most my transactions at mo. If so, just cancel the transaction and put the ball back into his court to come up with a compromise. Tossa!
Thanks for the tip tho, will look out for him.

yeah, cheers Shaun, I've just checked on his history and items for sale, he clearly knows his LC's etc as he has sold lots of parts for them, so he knew full well that it was shagged, I do hope he is a member on here, then he can explain himself, although I doubt he will, he's £37+ quid better off, so only one loser here - me
Hope has an issue with his LC/bike and I know the answer to it, as like f**k will I help him - what goes around comes around, its not like me to get irritated by syuch sh*t, but this one has really annoyed me, if anyone knows him, give him a slap from me !

Sorry to hear your story mate, the best we can do is police ourselves, anyone on the forum we should trust, if people are are on the forum and doing this shit then should rightly be outed and at least we know who they are and not to any deals , same with any e bayers doing this shite , name and shame , they won't give a toss but at least we know who they are (tossers )

Start an eBay dispute stating you were diliberatly sold defective parts & eBay will probably find in your favour & refund you out of his account even if he objects. They are very bias in favour of buyers

i agree with nikfubar. start a dispute with ebay and paypal. they will 99% of the time award it to the buyer.

Agreed, mostly likley they will tell you to send it back and they will refund you as soon as you advise them of the tracking number. Simples... And annoying when you get shonky buyers as a seller, but in this case its valid use of that mechanism o course.

Shame these things happen and its just the risk you take with ebay. You never know if you are going to be dealing with the likes of someone who is so clearly out for themselves without a thought for others. Open the paypal case and i hope you get a good result. you will probably lose out on postage charges though which isnt fair but is ebays policy. if you find out who it is then name and shame.

Ebay is a big risk at times.
I won a ypvs item only £7 or so. Sent paypal payment, remained unclaimed.
Seller pm's "send cheque, don't do paypal".
Alarm bells ring. Thinking "Gotta trust people" Sent cheque, item arrived. Happy dayz. However not always.
I had issues with our mate FFH, yeah, funds-for-her.

cheers guys, I've opened a case with ebay and will look into paypal about getting my money back, yeah name and shame, I think its high tide we do that, even if we only do it on this forum, at least its another service that the forum members will enjoy and at least give a heads up to any potential scammers out there, as been said already, its hard enough these days getting parts without tosspots like this being on the scene, he has other stuff for sale at the moment, so beware, he has sold lots of LC/YPVS stuff and seems to have got good feedback, which on the face of it looks good, but I wonder how many of those people have actually checked/or tested the part before leaving feedback, after been caught a few times I don't leave feedback until I've checked the item

What was the ebay item number?

Found it!
The Items Specifics state :-
"Condition: Used: An item that has been previously used. The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended. This item may be a floor model or shop return that has been used. See the seller’s listing for full details and description of any imperfections"
Fully operational..... you know what to do now! :-)

Preumably when you paid him you saw who he was and where he lives/trades from? At least his email address? why not publish his I.D. and be damned? Shouldn't be allowed to scam like that.

I've bought and sold on the forum this way with no probs. So if you've been nipped this way. YOU should name and shame too ....

Agreed, the gift thing is great between forumers, after all 'we are not ebay', but on ebay you should always pay with normal paypal.
