ok, thought it was time to let the cat out of the bag for my new engine build So, basically the engine will be; 1. RD400E/F bottom end 2. 350LC barrels and head This configuration will effectively make a 400cc LC. The engine is basically an 8mm stroked LC, I am using the 400 bottom end as that is a much bigger/heavier crank and will give very good torque low down, now there are a good number of challenges to getting this engine working, once it is working (assuming I can crack a few issues) then the next stage is to TURBO charge it , yes, honest, that's what I am doing, got the turbo and already built a good number of parts! Picture of the turbo charger I am using below Now I am not going to divulge all of my info etc, but needless to say, if this works it will have some grunt, it might even go bi-turbo yet, depending upon certain figures etc and how the sums work out !! Anyway, so now you know, there are a few on here who already knew as I've been speaking to them about a few things. of course, this might not work at all and could end up a very expensive experiment. And in case anyone is wondering I am fitting this all into a ZXR400 chassis, I'll start a build thread at some point once I get chance watch this space......

What an interesting project all I can say is good luck as I think you may well need it! Saying that if anyone stands a chance pulling this off you're the guy PS what is the turbo off, Smart car maybe?

Good luck with your build - that turbo looks like the one on my wife's 1.3l diesel corsa. They are tiny but work well.

cheers Guys, funny you should chime in Arrow, I have a question about the pump I am running, I might need to tweak it a little to provide a little bit more oil !!
I am hoping to have the basic engine running in February, currently waiting on some pistons from America, once I have those I will be able to finalise my port mappings etc and then get it bolted into the ZXR frame, them some quick wiring and some make shift brackets and it should be ready to have its first run (without the turbo)

Hello, Very interesting thread. I will follow it with interest also. Any ideas yet how you will lubricate the bearings in the turbo? Are they not normaly pressure fed from the engine lubrication system? All the best, steven.

Hi Steve, that's already sorted, yes they have to be lubricated with oil and cooled as well, so had to do quiet a bit of work in that area

Nice one mate, I would suggest a dump valve as this will help preserve the life of the Turbo.
I'll have to call down on my 750T and compare notes!

Best of luck with that Mutts, i remember once reading about a supercharged 2-stroke where by a secondary piston acted like a pump forcing the mixture in, i think it got banned from racing! Good luck with your project =)

Fuel injection? Some special porting to help with cylinder filling?

If you are already running a pump though, it can be made to give more oil at the 3/4~full throttle setting, and before that using shims (two separate things there). Would be wise to do this but we are going into new territory here.
