okay I need a new rear shock for my 4l0 and was wondering what other people's preferences are with adding one between the hagon and nitron shocks, so which do you prefer and why, thanks.

Was going to ask this as well but for different reasons. I see one is height adjustable would I be better with this because I'm a bit of a fatboy now and don't want the bike to look like a collie dog with worms trailing its arse along the ground.

Hi, I have just been through the same decision. I put a Nitron Sport on my 350lc, 1980 model and it has completely transformed the ride and handling and it weighs 2 kilos less than the standard unit.

Id still go Nitron for an lc. Not that Haygon ar'nt a good shock but Niton are better . However the yss shocks do look better then the Haygon but I haven seen one up close or road a bike with one fitted.

The yss length is adjustable and they'll build one to the lenght you want, the shock and the valve emulators came to £350 inc postage......much better value than the crap looking hagon and the more expensive nitron (that doesn't fit tdrs without modding ! ) I'm very impressed with the overall quality

they do sound good but bare in mined that they may get stopped at customs and you may get %20 added to the bill and then you have to pay for post to you.

Does anyone have a YSS shock they have fitted and used? I'd be interested to know how they shape up against a Nitron.

Cheers Dusty
I picked one up cheap, which has hardly been used to I figured it would have to be better than the 30 year old original and I have this Yorkshire thing about spending money on new suspension!
I squealed for weeks after I forked out $1000 for a Wilbers shock for my TZ750, then found someone that would rebuild the original for a carton of beer !! Mind you it is nice, but has shown up the short coming of the front end now !!

Dusty's link is very informative.I haven't seen that mod before. However I think I would feel a bit better if it were me by bracing the top mount where the metal has been cut out. Yorkshire and spending money. Those words don't go in the same sentence. You need to go on www.the2strokeforum.proboards.com/ There's quite a few Yokshiremen/womenon there . Only messing they're a great bunch and they have a good craic. And the 2 stroke gathering is BRILLIANT.

I have an Ohlins rear shock on my 4lo with a KR1S front end with heavy oil and gold emulators, the suspention is so good I never even think about it. I run my tdr250 with a nitron (the remote res one)and stock forks and springs with gold emulators, again awesome, I think the Ohlins set up was a lot cheaper than the Nitron though.
I don't regret blowing massive amounts of money on either bikes suspension, my tip would be to buy the best you can afford.

Andy, Whats your tip for fitting the emulators WRT drilling out damper rods, oil qty etc ?
(I was actually joking about the Yorkshire thing - I'm from Notts!!)

A cheap alternative is an sv650 shock , the white spring one You need to drill the mount out to 12mm iirc
Not a quality item ,but better than the soggy 30 yr old lc unit
