Hi all I carefully changed transmission oil this spring as I have done many times before. Lately a bit of a leak under bike checked level and it is quite a bit high. Oil smells and feels normal. Is there any way gas could get in there? I turn off petc**k each time after riding but I think it leaks a bit. Sometimes carb float overflow tube has gas in it. Any other reason level could climb? Thanks

2T oil getting past the seal on the worm shaft. +1 That must be it. It would have taken me a year to figure it out. I guess I will need a gasket for the right hand side cover, a small one for the oil pump and the oil seal. Do you put anything on the gaskets?. I'd rather just ride till the snow flies then take it indoors and enjoy the work. Thanks for your help.

Mate whilst you have the casing off etc I would think about replacing the waterpump impeller and seal if you not already done this...sods law it will go next......put a high flow upgraded one in as well same price from norbo..

Until you drain the trans oil you wont know for definite. Had the same and it looked ok on the dip stick. When I drained it I could tell. It was the water pump impeller shaft.
