Hi, I have been out the past couple of nights doing some "running in" miles on my 4L0. I got it MOT,d last week, after rebuilding it. As you can see its still got its "back in the day clothes on"......The tank and pannels in mars bar colours are not due back for a good few weeks yet from being painted. I have just posted the same pics on the LC Club site, and thought id put a few on here too. Have done 50 odd miles on it so far, and in the sunshine as well !!!.... So far so good, well appart from my speedo being approx 10 mph or so out, its quite good, it makes me think im going faster than i actualy am. steven. looking over the Firth of Clyde to the Heads of Ayr, where Butlins was/is. The Isle of Arran, that sillouete is supposed to look like the outline of a warrior laying on his back sleeping, hence the name, "The Sleeping Warrior".....I dont think Iv ever realy been able to see it my self. Isle of Arran, Troon harbour and the small island in the distance is Ailsa Craig. was there not a "well known" LC pic next to some grafiti? ?

Nice looking bike and you have some nice roads to run her in on, unlike the congested 50mph limit sunny south

Hi, Some more running in pics, copied and pasted from the LC Club site. steven. Hi, Managed to get a few more running in miles done on my LC this afternoon. Finished early at work, went home via the petrol station, put 5 ltrs of super unleaded Tesco premium pertolium in my green can, went home squirted 125 cc of semi synthetic 2 stroke oil into the can and poured the lot into my LC,s scabby yellow tank. The tank looks like new on the inside after its por 15 treatment, and like 33 years old on the outside! I spoke with Kas Racepaint the other day, and my tank and pannels job is in hand. The clutch doesnt seem so heavy now with its three heavy duty clutch springs, I must be getting used to it. Im still over the moon with it, and happy how its running. I have not been above 4000 revs with it yet, but in top gear on the flat, that is plenty fast enough for me anyway! When I went out on it this afternoon it said 70 miles, on returning home tonight it said 102 miles, so Im delighted to get past the first 100 miles with it and no major probs, and all miles thus far have been done in the sunshine.[eek] Today, while sitting at the traffic lights, the drivers door of an old red Fiat, that was sitting in front of me at the lights opened, and the bloke turned his head round and shouted "Hey big yin, is than an old LC?"........I replied loudly.... "Aye"...... the bloke gave me the thumbs up and smiled, the lights turned to green and I drove off thinking, thats the second time today that someone has asked me about my LC. When I was letting it warm up before I left the house today, two wee boys of about 14 or 15 stopped and asked me if it was an RD. I replied yes, and he said that his dad told him that RD,s used to beat the bigger bikes when they came out at first. The other wee boy said his dad had one and it was a 250. The other wee boy said no, they were 350,s........ a minor argument started between the two youths, and I mediated as required, lol. I left the house in sunshine today, but by the time I got up the hills, I could see the clouds rolling in and the rain falling north of me. I doubt there will not be many more sunny running in miles to be had this year, but we will see. 13 weeks to christmas, or something like that, someone told me today !!! steven.

Love your post about the two wee boys back in the day there is a road between Thornhill and Moniaive we called the clone the diesels were quicker on the first part but the lc johnnys used to ride round them when it got to the bendy to leave them looking sheepish when we got there. ......If it was nt through the dyke (thats a wall to those south of Carlisle)

hi, Thanks for the replys and kind words. Im hoping it looks a little better with its nice standard mars bar pannels and tank on, once it comes back from being sprayed. Im also trying to talk my self into getting a metmachex swinging arm for it, for its/my christmas. but i looked at the approx prices, and one of them costs more than what I payed for the bike years ago, but i understand they are quality items and its that old thing, that you get what u pay for. I like the bars I put on it, they feel to be just right. i wanted micron ace bars for it, but they got lost in the post... i tried a couple of sets, but liked those ones, they were advertised to fit a BSA A65, but id still rather of had my micron ace bars, the same as I had on my first LC. this is my first LC, I bought it in 85/86 and sold it in 88 to buy my Zed, i was still an apprentice at the time. did yamaha ever release LC,s with the gold wheels like those ones?, iv seen quite a few lc,s with those gold wheels over the years, but not sure if ppl just paint them that colour, or if any came from the factory like that.? heres my "Zed" when it was a little younger. heres my zed a little more recent, the arse rotted out the origonal tank,a new black tank was £450..... Zed power sold me the gold tank and tail piece, brand new and still in the kawasaki box for £150, so as you can see, my Zed is now gold, Zed power said it is an "import" or "foregin" colour scheme. iv had my Zed for 25 years, since 1988 and its more or less always been on the road and is still "origonal", well, most of it, its never been restored. It has not been Mot,d for 2 years, as i have been concentrating on that yellow LC,but my plan is to mot my Zed again for next year. here is my Zed at the moment, parked in the corner of the garage, with all the rope dumped on top of it i used to tie my LC down in the van when i took it for its mot. as you can see, there is a bit of old carpet on the seat, the cats seem to like to jump up on the bikes and dig there claws into the seat !!! ........ which displeases me grately, but i decided that better to put a piece of old carpet on the seat, rather than go to all the hastle of making a pair of gloves out of a cat ! Grrrrrr...... i think this might be my next LC mission??? .....not too sure what to do with it?, i have all the bits to build a good 250, those codnor microns are ok, but not perfect, they have a couple of small dings, i think im right in saying that the origonal codnor microns were NOT model dependant?, so u could use them on a 250 or 350??? what is the starting point for jetting on a completely standard engine with those codnor microns does anyone know/remember? the bars on that one are standard LC bars fitted upside down, i was seeing what it would look like when i was trying to console myself about "the last set of micron ace bars in the world" i bought, but got lost in the post..... im away to do something constructive now, instead of waffeling. steven.

Nice pics. I'm always being asked about my RD and my Z900, seems like everyone had one or wanted one. I was once asked about the Z900 if it was an H2, err or doh. Foggy memories I guess, gets us all.

the paint work looks ace is it the yellow set repainted or a spare set you have Hi there, I sent my spare tank and pannel set off to be painted in mars bar colours, after treating the tank and my yellow tank with por 15. The yellow tank has had super unleaded in it for 6 months now with no probs, and I filled the one I sent to Kas Racepaint with super unleaded and left it for a week before I sent it off for painting. I also pressure tested both tanks and all was well. The scabby yellow set will now be my spare set. I finished restoring my 4L0 at the end of last summer and got it on the road. The last time it was on the road was 2000, here is a pic of what it looked like in 2000 with its YPVS engine in it, and the horrible "barn door" nose fairing and belly pan. steven.
