That frame would worry me The internal rust is probably as bad as the external rust and may be a scrapper I kind of agree mate. On one hand, frame rust that hasn't been touched usually looks far worse than it actually is (which coud be the reason Chez decided to use it as it is, maybe it looks worse on pic than IRL?), but on the other hand, it's a frame for gods sake! Can one afford taking the risk of a frame snapping in half at 200+ km/h? I dunno about you, but I wouldn't take that risk lol. I'd construct a frame jig and then chop the frame up at the welds to get a bunch of smaller bits to thoroughly inspect, particularly the insides of the tubes at the bottom of the frame (trapped water could eat the tubes up badly). Then reweld the frame if it's OK, and/or replace parts that are f*cked. It's a hell of a job to do though and you wouldn't be able to keep all the original frame components intact after the disassembly (for instance the big sheet metal parts around the swingarm pivots, depending on how you cut the frame apart ufcourse), but you could always do some metal work on your own eh.. Bottom line is... It's a frame for gods sake, don't underestimate the weakness of it!

I would not recommend chopping the frame in half, getting it back straight and getting the quality of the weld on a previously welded frame would be a hard task. Drill a hole and stick a nice fiberscope in there and you will see it all. But since the frame is already coated all this is fiction.
Brave rebuild there mate!

Just find and Buy an FZ600. Effectively the same bike.. even fitted with better suspension bits They all interchange easily.

One owner bike with low miles, sounds like a bargain. The owner needs a good kicking. Good luck with the resto, look forward to seeing this being brought back from the dead.

WOW !! Bit of a state that's for sure, more than a few weekends work there, thought mine was in a state but this makes mine look almost MOTable and its still in box's !! Good luck with it and keep us informed with lots of photo's, how long do you expect it to take to get done? and just as a matter of interest do you have any idea of the costs you'll be shelling out by the bucket load

Having also recently found one, bought one (£2250) then realised I couldn't afford a resto, I sold it to double my money.... Regret is a lonely road....good luck with the rust remover and elbow grease....
