Being as I'm going to need something to do when / if I get my Mito350 finished I bought this It's a 4dl Tzr125 frame / swingarm with a 1wt 350 ypvs I've been shopping for a few parts for it already and I've now got an almost complete front end for it which looks like this Just have to make a few spacers up then I can make a start on the yokes. Got a question about 4dl yokes , does anyone know what the offset is ? This will take a while to get finished because I want to finish the Mito off first.

Unfortuantly I've already sent the logbook off to get the engine size changed , would be quite a laugh for a 17 yr old though !

Thanks, I'm hoping that it will all go together easier than my Mito !
The front end is made up from 3 bikes , the forks are Gsxr600 K8 , the calipers are 08 zx10r and the wheel/discs are rvf/vfr 400 . I had to make up a couple of bushes to reduce the fork leg diameter to suit the rvf wheel and make a set of wheel spacers so that the calipers are central to discs.
All I need to do now is make a set of yokes and the front end should drop straight in. Then I can make a start on trying to fit the szr660 swingarm , which looks like I've got to take 15mm off the bearing tube and it "should" drop straight in

I got myself an Szr660 swingarm the other day and thought it was about time I had a go at fitting it. The arm was 14mm wider than the original tzr one so out came my trusty hacksaw and file. I made a stainless bung which was 7mm smaller than the depth of the bearing hole which gave me something to file to and after an hour it looked like this The faces are within .002" which I'm quite happy with I had to make some bushes and some end caps up because the shoulder fouls the standard ones. After a bit of jiggling around the arm went it nicely and the shock and linkage fitted nicely As you can see the szr arm looks a lot nicer than the original 4dl arm . Next job is to decide what bodywork to get , I tried the rs seat on the frame to see how it looked and I don't think it looks too out of place .

I'm hoping that it will look pretty good when it's finshed I haven't got an szr wheel , I got the arm on it's own

I finally found the time / money / enthusiasm to try and get this finished off and I've got the following A set of brand new 310mm R1 OEM discs I was going to try and get a set off an rvf/cbr/vfr400 but I decided to get these because a: they were cheap and b: I'm going to have to make a disc adapter so rather than having the fork width dictated by the disc offset I can make the yokes a set width and space the discs out to suit the calipers. This way I will know that the forks are parallel and the discs are central , it was a nightmare to measure it the other way. I've also decided on the bodywork and I picked this lot up today All I have to do know is make a set of yokes , engine mounts , sort a rear subframe out and fit the bodywork . Then I can start on playing about with the engine , which should be fun

It's the first op on what will become an adjustable bottom yoke

Here's how it looks with the bottom yoke fitted I was a bit worried about the gsxr forks as they have a smaller diameter under where the yokes and handlebars clamp to , if they were too long then I would of had to make a yoke which stepped up to the clamping area ( which wouldn't look that good ) . Luckily enough the clamping area is in line with the top of the headstock so I'll make a flat top yoke , just have to decide on the design now . I also had a quick look at the rear engine mounts and I think I can modify the design of my mito mounts so that it bolts to the existing engine mounts which should make it a bit easier to fit.

Thanks for the comments I'm really pleased with how it turned out ( and fitted ! ) I thought I'd try and keep the momentum going on sorting the yokes out so after spending 5 hours messing around on the pc getting the shape how I wanted , I ended up with this I've got to make it finger proof and put the tapped holes and slots in but it's basically finished . I'll weigh it later to get a comparison with the standard 4dl top yoke I've got laying around . Here's how it looks as the complete set Next job is to try and work out how to get the engine in place

Next job is to try and work out how to get the engine in place I'll be interested in that bit ........ top machining as usual there , some folk are way way too talented. I think that the Mito rear mount design can be modified so that they bolt to the 2 existing rear mounts on the frame , I'll get a rough plate knocked up to check the hole positions and if they line up I'll design a one piece mount. fantastic yokes, are you a cnc programmer or operator or both ? i guess in aerospace ! steve Thanks , they do look prety good don't they It took a while to get the curves to look right but I think all the time spent was worth it . I'm actually a press toolmaker by trade but the chance to use cad came up at work and I thought that it might come in handy I've been doing cnc stuff for just over 3 years now , the interesting part for me is the programming as you need to work out all the machining without actually having the machine in front of you . I had a quick test fit of the front end today which ended up with something looking like this I've got to trim the length of the stem to suit but apart from that I can't see any problems with them fitting Next on the list is to make the spindle and wheel spacers
