Small update, had a few setbacks, but will have a decent update by the middle of the week - promise! Had another delivery at our lasses works, first off, the NOS fairy blessed me with this: What is it? It's a RH mirror Can't wait to slip that on Also, top forum member Shytalk contacted me on Norbos forum offering a period N master cylinder to replace the (wrong) 31K one. Blasted and BBQ painted it, then left it to simmer for two days Mounted While I was waiting for the paint to dry, another phone call meant another trip to the missus' works to pick up another parcel. This time from Andy (yamahardbreaker on ebay). Great guy, quality stuff, can't recommend him enough ;D First off these: Too grubby for this bike After soda blasting and mounted: New NOS rubbers next time I'm at Norbos After popping the footrests on, its now apparent I've had the wrong kickstart chromed... This is the one off the 350LC... £40 plus post if anyone wants it. Cost me £40 for the chroming..... Also got this LH mirror, cleaned up lovely, couple of small scratches but still had an easy life: Finally got a set of these: Although they are the set off my valve-engined LC So that's off the road until I find another set... One step forward, two steps back, more about that hopefully Wednesday. Only 2 weeks to finish it... Thanks for looking!

Ahh, the trials and tribulations of making a excellent bike from a pile of shite you buy off ebay eh... Ohh, what's all this then? Well, a couple of days ago eventually got to fire the beast up sounded like a bag of spanners So, out with the engine again and a better look-see at the internals... The only thing I didn't have checked was the "just rebuilt and balanced crank" Remember this? With those odd marks in them? Whoever did this piece of engineering excellence wants the crank sticking up their arse. Initial finds (from someone who knows what they're talking about) For a start, its got new rods and big ends on f**ked inner bearings, and set with too much end-float on the big ends. There's a good reason for that: the inner webs are from a 350LC.... The mains felt good when I bought it, but the inners now sound like there's Cleethorpes beach in them. Do we recon they were full of oil to quieten them down... To continue the mechanical ineptitude the crank seal was put on the wrong way round as well. Let's hope these people aren't allowed to fix their childrens pushbikes.... So now were at a recon crank, unfortunately taken out of my hybrid. It's got less than 800 miles of pootling around on its back so should be good for a loooong time.. All bottled up: Changed the basket as well so the primarys have matching gears So, a quick clean down before putting the motor back in, I gave it another clean. After all it has done 2 metres since its last build... Prepped for install: In: Ordered some new base and a head gasket then the top end can go on - again... More by the weekend! Thanks for looking Simon

You a fast worker dude, and an excellent build too. In a previous pic. take care when wrapping new paint work with bubble wrap. It can leave a residue that won't polish off. I found this out the hard way.

I only wrapped them loosely to protect the ends from getting scratched, I just managed to scratch them in a different place lol!

Always a pleasure spending money and time with you mate. I do feel guilty when I go as I always stop you from working. I think today was a world record for the longest you were unable to earn money due to gabbing with me Thanks for the glowing report, that's got to be worth another £500 on the sale price Simon

Hi there, happy sunny days:) About time! Just a quick update Had a 130 mile round trip today to get some more bits off Norbo. Always a pleasure spending money with that guy as he's always got time for you. So, with my bag of NOS it's time to get to work: First off, let's get this motor back together: Half done: Then noticed I'd used the barrel nuts for the crankcases so had to swap them round... Nearly done: Done: Exhausts on, carbs on and coolant in: Then my attention was turned to the footrests. Still not happy with the riders footrest bases, but they'll do until better ones pop up. The rears are ace. New screws for the rears and they're fitted as well: Ohh, we do like NOS, nowt better than new touchy-feely Next up, chainguard. Old one was OK, but not perfect. Only one way to cure that. Nowt newer than brand new: Can't find the new tyre pressure sticker... So, no running shots as for some reason I've lost the spark. Rechecked everything (and found no problems) then it popped back. Put the tank on and it went again... Also, noticed another funny thing, when the sidelights are on, the temp gauge goes to hot. Any ideas? Bugger it for now, the sun's out and I'm out on the GSXR lol! More soon! Simon

Update time! Well, it's finally (nearly) done. Got wind of a set of 1,500 mile-old 31K carbs over at Shags so a trip over in the van to have a look meant that I was financially lighter about 4 nanoseconds after spotting them. I've never seen a set of carbs so clean and original. They've even still got the original yellow dots on the carb fronts. Incredible... For once the photos don't do the carbs justice. They're not super-clean like they've just been vapoured, they're just super-original. Even the throttle slides are completely black! Fitted: I think they just finish the build off perfectly. So, with the motor in, watered and tested, it's on with the panels: Finally, the mirrors and then the 1st (and only) roadtest. What's it like? It's like a powervalve. That's it. No great emotion-stirring whirlwind, no porn-star hard-on. No emotion It's now for sale, but it's not cheap. It's for sale for what it's cost me in parts. Not labour, not fuel running up and down the country for bits, just the cost of the parts. There's £250 of NOS to make this perfect, I'm keeping my eyes out and will fit it as it becomes available. The price is set but will be minus the amount of NOS needed to finish the bike off until I've got it all then it will be the full asking price. (If you understand that...) I'm going to end up with this for a long time waiting for the one person that really wants a built N1 but without all the hassle. For me, it's an investment but not for using. You may find that strange, but after all, you don't take your ISA out for a spin every weekend do you? Naw, you leave it in the bank to mature (theoretically) Thanks for looking and enduring all this waffle, I'll update the thread when bits come available. Best wishes, Simon

Seem to spend more time sitting at home than working.... As for the price, look at "N" prices and double it, although it will be cheaper than the Dutch one on ebay at the moment. ;D

Haha, you seen the missus mate, there's days when I'm not allowed in the living room, never mind the bike Yeah, still a few little bits and bobs to get but essentially it works and is finished. Draining the tank and putting the bodywork in the spare room over the weekend, can't afford to drop something on that Ordered the vac bag, the bike seems to collect dust as quick as I wipe it off!

The seat is original, with the correct cover. Looks better on the photos though. Getting a bit faded, was going to spray it but preferred the original look. That's one of the look-for NOS bits! Tie-wrap is because the kicker is away at AJ's for olive drab (as the one I had chromed was for a 350LC - schoolboy error...) and the only other I've got is an LC one - which catches the new footrest rubbers But need it to start it lol!
