Where is the yellow dot usually on a 350 oil pump and what colour is it ifs its a 250 pump? I've got a pump but no clue which one it is and i need a 350 pump Cheers ;D

I've got a pump but no clue which one it is and i need a 350 pump Cheers ;D The yellow paint dot will be somewhere on the body of the pump. A 250 pump will have a red paint dot. Not all pumps had paint dots tho', some were just marked 4L1 on the pully. There is only one way to determine what pump you have & that is by checking the worm drive gear. A 250 pump will have a fine pitch, about 7 turns, & a 350 a much courser pitch, about 5 turns. See photo below, 250 is on the left, 350 on the right. These drive gears will only fit properly to their respective oil pumps as the drive gear inside the pump is machined to suit the worm drive gear. OEB
