Hi, been wondering why most people lacquer over their new decals, they were never done like this from the factory, from what I remember? so why do it on a mint or concourse restored bike?
Will the smallest whiff of petrol remove the colour nowadays, can't see it being a problem on the sidepanels and tailpieces, (I know the tank was done like this though)

i prefer not to lacquer over the decals, it lever a a build up at the edge, it does not look right, if you are using printed decal you will have to lacquer over to protect them, from petrol, i make vinyl cut decals and had them on my rd over year on not lacquer and still look the same now.
if i was going to lacquer just do the tank

Whats the difference between printed and vinyl decals, as in, how can i tell the difference when buying?

i always laquor over mine, makes it so much nicer and easier to clean and polish, no build up of police on the edges. and as said above if they are printed one whiff of t-cut on them and they will be ruined. just laquored over one of the panels on the rgv this morning ;D
