Judging by the bobbins to take rubber bands to hold it on, I'd suggest it isn't for any bike in particular - just a generic "special" tank. the 2 petrol taps certainly suggest it was designed for a brit though.
Wouldn't fit my Bonnie though - it's held on by a bolt through the middle of the tank - I wonder who came up with that idea?

i would say triton m8 but seen these tanks on some bsa rocket 3 and triumph trident race bikes at the stafford show. advertise it as norton/triton/bsa/triumph alloy tank and stick a reserve on it and you can allways offer it up as a second chance offer.

Looks like a trident tank might be worth putting out to the owners club/forum?

The cut out for the frame is very wide, so probably a Norton frame, might be worth a trip to one of the museums for a measuring session.
