Have you re-torqued the head after first heat cycle? You could re-torque it a touch higher and see if it cures.
Are your bores much over size? If they are your head gasket bore might be a bit on the small side.
You could try a touch of sealant.
Genuine head gasket may do the trick but a good quality pattern one should be ok.
I would try those before paying someone to look at them.
Failing that, ensure head is flat and both barrels th same height.

Yeah re-torqued head was thinking of doing it again just as a last resort. Bores are 1mm over. Head seems to be flat not got an engineers surface plate to check for certain though. Used Norbo's Quality ones was wondering if a copper one would do the trick?

Try re-torquing the head before you do anything else, mine started blowing coolant out the expansion bottle second time out, re-torqued and was ok for a few rides then did it again after a severe thrashing. Re-torqued a bit higher & it's been fine for the last year

I'm away this week but will warm her up and retorque later in the week. If it leaks again I might resort to sealant but have never needed to on any other engine. Can you O'ring a 4L1? If so how much? On another note at what age does a bike have to have indicators? Thinking of throwing it into an MOT if I can later this week.
