Now then, I will be rebuilding my engine in the summer and want to know which way to go with the crankshaft. I have a 1WT engine on standard 1.00 pistons. I will be running PWK28's and non-standard exhausts.
Is it best to get the stock crankshaft rebuilt (and if so can anyone suggest somewhere) or should I look at getting a new fangled one from USA/Australia?
Norbo, can you give us all some information about the crankshafts you stock in the shop?
Thanks
Nico

Whats wrong with the current one ? Standard ? 1.00 pistons Recently bored to 1.00 ??
All dependant on how deep your pockets are with cranks ?

I want the engine to be right when I do it. When I say 'standard' I mean that it has not been bored to put bigger than 350 pistons in. I don't know anything about the crank that is in there as I don't know the history of the engine.
My pockets aren't very deep, and they usually have holes in.
By the way tout, I bought my RD frame from you off ebay about four years ago! It's taken a while but I'm getting there with it.

There are a lot fo crank threads on the forums at the mo... must be that time of year LOL. I have bought two recently (the past year), one standard and one stroker that's balanced. Will be interesting to see how they last.

I think that Gary has got it bang on; I don't want to have to strip the engine again after a couple of rides as something has gone wrong. One thing I have learnt with building bikes is do things properly and it should prevent headaches later on.
What are the YPCS cranks Norbo?

Just realised you might have hit 'C' instead of 'V'! Can you give me a little more info about the cranks you have in the shop Norbo?

I think I have a Vitos (came from Gus in the USA) as a standard crank in one of mine, not run it but it seemed well done when i fitted it. Some hot rods are said to be knock offs but i dont know the full story, so check that out.
I bought a TSS stoker crank cos i had heard great things about the TSS +4mm crank from a local mate and love the idea of balancing a crank when you go to the longer stroke and also if youre using pipes like Kennys TSA's as then you will be revving it as they like revs and wehn revving a balanced crank should last longer.
Some say balancing is only important with big cyls and also big HP, but I like the idea that I might not blow the thing up quite so fast LOL
Dont forget Norbo does cranks too...
