I stripped my bike today and was going to bleed the oil pump before I stripped the engine as the oil had turned to sludge when the bike was in storage. Theres a large philips head screw at the top and a smaller one below it, which do I turn and is there a method for bleeding it?
I hope that makes sense lol.
Many thanks, Simon.

Never worked on a 125 oil pump but if it's similar to the 350 one why not whip the pump off and and clean it out if your oil has turned to sludge

Many thanks, Simon. normally the philips screw should have a neoprene washer with it.just loosened it fully and remove the screw wait till the flow of 2t oil is undisturbed meaning no air or bubble's are cmg out just pure flow of oil then just refix the screw and tightened it.

Yes as bikermania says the bleed screw is on the side of the pump with a Red/Orange washer under it. But if you are completely stripping the engine you will have to bleed it afterwards anyway .Tone.

You guys are legends, many thanks. Now all I have to do is try and somehow unscrew it as someone's ruined the head of the screw when they tried to take it off

Easy mate, I've undone a couple recently that had no cross in the centre at all.
They're never done up that tight, just undo it with a decent set of pliers. I used a set of vice-grip pliers and they both came undone very easy. Replacement screws are available from Yamaha for pennies.

Good good, ill try the impact screwdriver then try the plyers after. Thanks Have you ever stripped a 10w engine right down?

I wouldn't hit the oil pump with an impact driver, just use some decent pliers on the screw, it should come undone easy .

Question I have Robbo about the engine stripping is are there any specific/special tools needed to take one apart? Me and dad want to strip one next weekend and rebuild it just to get to know the engine.

with a dremel cutting disc cut a slot across it then use a flat bladed driver.... ;)screw is available but it is a philips head not posi and thats why it gets rounded.... any 3mm bolt/screw should be ok as long as same length i have done countless numbers mate and done about 11 rd 80 lc engines last 2 years alone....let alone 125 lc ones. By the time you've got that cutting bit in ya Dremel, I'd have it undone with the pliers and be aving a cup of Tea.... LOL, sorry ;D
