Hi Chaps, thought it's time to post an update of my progress. For some reason started this thread in the You Tube & Photo's section - don't ask me why . Got the bike about 3 years ago thinking there wasn't much to do - how wrong i was . I stripped it down to find everything, yes i mean everything had been botched , the mother in-law could have done a better job . Here's a photo of the arrival:- . The frame had a poor repair to the Lh lower rail and every captive nut was stripped out, so decided to go for a replacement frame - found a German frame with all documents so should be abe to get a age related Reg when finally finished. Frame powder coated satin black after removing the steering lock. Bit the bullet and went for a new Metmachex swinging arm, as i want to fit the LC2 rear brake assembly. So far, I'm only renewing what i have to, refurbing everything else as i go along. Went for LC2 wheels, satin black powder coated, new rubber, bearings etc and a nice set of wavy disc's to finish the job off. Secondhand clocks & switches sourced as came with "N" type fitted. Forks polished up after a full strip & rebuild, not 100%, but quite happy with results, as they were badly marked. Couple of photo's of where i am now:- . Next step is to modify the rear brake pedal for the rear brake disc arrangement, and refurb my newly acquired front & rear caliper's as well as 100 & 1 other things - will keep the thread updated with my progress. Hope you chaps like, after seeing some of the works of art out there, it's time to show a bike how the "mother in-law" would do it ;D.

Hi bubba, not touched the paintwork apart from with elbow grease and a bit polish . Yes really like the Kenny colours too, panels and paintwork not 100%, there's a few cracks and chips here and there, but couldn't justify replacing and then the price of a new paint job - lot's more to spend the money on first. It will get the VIP treatment when it starts to look shabby and it freezes over in hell according to the wife .

Hi Greenlandy, old swinger was a LC Metmachex. The previous owner had carried out a home made modification and fitted a "F" type rear caliper / carrier & YPVS wheel - what a mess, caliper was sitting totally off set to the disc and the carrier/ slide mechanism made it almost impossible to remove / refit the wheel. Tidied it up and sold it on for i think £100 if i remember right - quite a bit a chain damage too!. Always liked the thicker box section type with slotted chain adjuster, so saved them penny's .

Looking really good so far mate. Out of curiosity, did Metmachex charge you any extra to have slotted chain adjusters rather than the usual eccentric jobs on the swingarm? The swingarm looks good, but then I would say that.

Hi winnerevo1, got the arm about 2 years ago now, just phoned up with my requirements ie slotted adjustment, YPVS wheel fit with standard LC2 caliper fit and they gave me a price. Dropped both a LC swing arm & a assembled YPVS swingarm, (caliper & wheel) for reference and i got a phone call about 3 weeks later that it was ready. Slight increase in first price quoted of £20 but they had upgraded to bigger box and i was well happy with the finished item that i didn't kick up a fuss. Very pleased, wheel/brake assembly just slides in with no messing about and standard brake fit keeps it nice and simple.

Had a little spare time today, so modified my rear brake pedal to operate the YPVS master cylinder and use the LC return spring on the original foothanger mounting position. Still got mock build up to do to confirm it works, before fully welding and re-painting - but i think it should be OK, touch wood . Busy on with mounting YPVS motor behind the head stock and below the coil, may have to temporary fit the motor so i get position and cable route OK - going to use coil cover mounts with a home made mounting brkt, as other's have done - wish me luck. Big list of bits sent off to Norbo (again) including an all in one Zeeitronic control box - this should be fun .

Hi bubba, no never been, but if the bikes sorted then I'll try my best, be nice to meet up with fellow minded weirdo's ;D. The father in-law runs the "Boundary 500" (pop it in the search engine for detail) motor cycle club which was mainly formed to help raise money for the Great north air ambulance (very good cause for us biker's) - they do a charity run mid year, trying to sort the bike for then, but nothing goes to plan . Would be nice if a couple of other LC's could joint in .

Well as promised, weekly updates as i go, even if not much to show . Fitted a GP style rear master cylinder reservoir kit and routed the new LC loom onto the frame - shame i lost all my strip down photo's when my old PC decided enough was enough - but i think it's there or there abouts now . Hoping to get time next week to blast and repaint a couple of things, so i can get the wheels on at last . Think I'm going to cut about 30mm off the pipe length, so it sits below the lug on the frame - doesn't look right to me as it is now . Oh, by the way, has anyone seen my engine, not were i thought i put it, S**T .

Hi gaz, taken your advice and going to paint the block - attach's via a 5mm bolt throught the middle of the block into the frame - it's the kit NK racing supply.

So is the spout of the plastic fluid inlet on the mastercylinder less angled than the original? Plenty of clearance between the swingarm top brace now? Haven't got round to looking at that yet!

Hi winnerevo1, yes inlet is less angled and the pipe naturally runs in-line with the frame - not a bend insight now .

A little further forward, problems with Rear brake caliper, had to strip clean & rebuild so many times, i can now do it in my sleep. before i could get a pedal - beer and bikes don't mix . Rr wheel assembly now in and brake working ;D ;D. . Zeeitronic all in-one box mounted in same place as old CDI unit, think there's some blanks at work that will cover the control box connection plug Still got to connect up to wiring harness, but going to finish off the front brakes first. Fitted the spare engine that came with the bike to get the YPVS servo unit mounted in the right position, just behind head stock, as many have done before . Compression OK and crank bearings feel OK too - hoping OK enough to start up when the time comes - as old engine, quoted by the previous owner as running before being stored, has a dirty big hole in the right hand side piston - , would love to shake his hand right now . The money pit has almost dried up, so engine will have to wait, so newly painted frame and bits etc with a battered looking engine fitted - may start up a trend . If its a non runner, looks like I'll be riding it around my son's play mat in the background - thought I'd but that in before any funny's from Mellow ;D. Or by the way, don't use LC disc bolts with PV wheels etc, the little devils catch the forks, lesson learnt, Oh how i love my LC .

Well a couple of steps further forward with the build . News piston seals & pads fitted to the Front brake calipers, still slightly spongy, so may try the syringe method to bleed and see if this improves things . Zeeitronic box now all wired up, as is the rest of the electrics - we now have lights ;D. Just got to confirm I have a spark from the coil, but fairly confident I will . PV servo motor bolted into place, but still having problems with the adjustment - see my YPVS cable post, but hopefully this will have a happy ending . Photos of the electrics for you chaps doing or thinking about a PV engine into a LC frame (used a LC harness) - these Zeeitronic boxes make it so easy. Study the layout, so you know how "Not to do it" - most likely burst into flames as I'm riding down the street 5 wire connector on the left is the sub harness that goes to the PV servo motor, runs along the right hand-side of the bike and connects just beneath the coil. Sub harness other end connection to PV servo motor. All other connectors tuck nicely beside the PV servo motor on the left hand-side. Photo of clocks and my lovely bars - well i think they look nice !. . Well next on my list is to sort the carbs out and fit - you wouldn't think the inside of a carb could get so full of s**t, & fit some wheel rim decals - most likely f**f them up as never had much luck with them in the past .

Well put my newly cleaned carbs back on the other day (not 100% confident as they were in a bad way), re-positon my exhaust hanging bracket on the Rh's pipe (Lhs still to do but pipes go on will a bit of puffing and shoving). Hung a bottle of pre mix on the handle bars, three kicks later and the bike fired up. What made it even better, my friendly next door neighbor (Police Sergent) was lying in bed after finishing nights, so i rev ed the tit's of it for a good 1/2 hour with microns fitted. Then decided to cut the front grass for good measure. Still lots to do, some photo's to follow.

Well chaps, bike's almost finished, front sprocket and chain still to fit, new bits should be here sometime next week. Ordered a standard size sprocket (17 teeth) and also a +1 sprocket (18 teeth) as chain is running very close to my big box swinger . Once fitted it's Mot time, apply for age related plate, and then hopefully lots of smelly blue smoke polluting the sky's around Teeside ;D - I'll be spending all my time cruising around the roads looking for another LC to race - the joys of being eighteen again a . Still got a little to finish off, front brake calipers could do with repainting as well as the barrels and head, but thats my job over the winter, overhauling my spare knackered engine. Also a nice new set of made to measure exhausts and new plastic and paint - think I'll but 6 more numbers on - the old girl doesn't look that bad, she's had a nip and tuck, so looks gorgeous after 6 pints ;D.
