Having just admired Lee's (Hondablade) rebuild of his Canadian 350LC and the lovely looking Higspeed spannies he has fitted has got me thinking about exhausts.
My lc is currently fitted with standard pipes but I also have: A good original set of Allspeeds (small can) that would benefit from re-plating. A good set of (bolt on cans) Microns.
The Microns could go on with a clean and polish but i dont like the way the cans seem to hang and not rise with the lines of the bike. Allspeed's I love the look and sound of these Old School rascall's but dont like the oil leaks from the flange mounting. I do like the look of the Higgspeed's fitted to Lee's bike.
So, if i sell the Microns i could either put the money towards a new set of Higgspeeds or refurbishing my Allspeed's.
What are your thoughts? (Assuming you have any)!

Great advice Mellow, biased but great! ;D They are indeed the curved pipe Microns, very rare and highly prized by those in the know I beleive. Ill give you first dibs if i decide to get rid of them.

Do what lcowner did and get longer flanges made to change the pipe angle. Check out his rebuild pics. Steve.

Have to agree with you the microns seem to droop and don't follow the lines very well, the allspeeds are spot on in my opinion. Ive got small can microns will make your ears bleed and they don't droop

If you like the small can look/sound but don't want to have to re-finish your allspeeds, try and get hold of 2x Sterling end cans to bolt on to your 'crons. Will give you the crackle you are after, looks neat and tidy (if you can find the stainless ones), they are very cheap, re-packable and best of all have a b.s stamp to get you through m.o.t's and to show to rozzers. Your choice, but I know what I would do Adam

I hate the cans on my microns, and would love the small can look!

Problem with those droopy Microns is they still look pretty much the same with shorter cans and I know cos I have a pair of new alloy Sterling cans here I tried on some recently. They look to me like the metal got too hot at some point and the end cans started to melt and fall off ;D ;D I just sold a mint set that didn't fit properly on my Hybrid (clashed with everything) I reckon you can't beat the looks of the small can Allspeeds which is why my Hybrid spent a day on the ramp at Gibsons recently having a pair specially made to fit properly. I had small can Microns on my original LC back in 84 and do like them, in-fact I very nearly bid on the black chrome ones that Sean bought recently but decided against it cos I much prefer the look of the small can Allspeeds. And I'm not too bothered about the higher revs and bit more power some pipes give, I'd rather save my crank and have a few revs less. If you're trying to go much faster than a well setup 350LC goes then you're on the wrong bike in my opinion ;D

Yeah, i agree.
Im not interested in gaining more power from the motor, just the "old School" look and sound of spannies.
I do think that the small can allspeeds look the best on the LC and sound brilliant.
I never really liked the pressed construction and droopy cans of the later Microns.
Do Gibsons still make the small can allspeed's"?
