Just put a set in mine, the metal ones really are crap. The hy-tech ones close and open quicker. Really sharpens up the throttle response, not really much of a power increase but they create a better seal as well. I haven't really had chance to test them fully as I'm having allot of trouble with my head not sealing properly. What they don't tell you when you are buying them however is that it says on the packet that they are to be replaced ever 1000 miles because they become weak and can fray and even snap off and fly into the piston at high velocity lol ;D Couple them with higher octane fuel and you will really notice smoother power delivery with no flat spots and quicker response. The most cost effective reed upgrade would be to send your block to Mick Abbey and have him mod it so that it only take one large petal top and bottom, cut from a sheet of carbon fiber (much stronger than old style fiber petals). Not sure, he quoted me for a road tune and modded reed block (£120). Have yet to send him my barrel as I'm having it honed to true it up first. Give him a ring. Might me worth looking into getting it tuned to get some extra juice out of it if you only do 1000 miles per year. My friend has an aprillia rs 125 with reed block mod and Mick Abbey road tune and it goes like no other 125 I have ever seen . His work is generally regarded as the best I will post pics of modded reed block and porting when its done Adam
