Has any one seen this got my copy of classic bike i know i cant help it i like all bikes any way it seems that a new law has been passed that says you have to have your vehicle insured all the time it has tax and mot unless it is sorn'd so you go away on holiday your insurance is due during your time away so you think you will do it when you get back to late you will get a fine plus your renewal for your insurance just think how many of us have bikes sat in the back of the garage that we pull out only a couple of times a year then leave them till the tax runs out then get them sorn'd this is the first time i have heard about it

I've got the article here and have read it over several times. What it suggests is that if you've got a vehicle on a SORN then it doesn't need insurance BUT if it's got road Tax then it must be insured ?, WTF ?. So basically if you've got something that is taxed and the insurance is going to run out (and you don't want to renew), just surrender the tax disc, get a refund on any full months remaining and then put it on a SORN ?. Total madness but it's what it says ?. And how can they be bringing it in from Jan 2011 but haven't told anyone ?.

looey I read it now. I didnt insure my lc this month as the snow was due.Mot due in Dec, so I thought balls to it. Only ride it 10 times a year anyway. I have only just taxed it. most people with classic insurance dont use them on a daily basis...some do. Its total crap if u ask me.So I now have so SORN it before next year. Ill insure it again, saves pissing about, for the sake of £100

I had 3 bikes nicked a couple of years back and have been paranoid (rightly so...) ever since, I bought a basket case 350LC that was matching numbers and agreed a interim value of it with Footman James, knowing it was still in 5 boxes - with the option to increase it's value during the rebuild. They don't care as it's £15 every time you ring 'em to change any details of your insurance - unless you tell them of the changes at time of renewal and then it's free... 'Got ya by the short 'n' curlies at every turn'!

Ive recently read a bit more on this subject and apparently they'll be writing to people with uninsured or untaxed vehicles and if you don't respond or do something after that, then they'll start chasing and fining people

I live abroad and here is the same insurance bull. in order to cancel the insurance proof of sale has to be shown, however i took a picture of my car in a garage with no battery and this seemed to satisfy the insurance that it was 0 risk and could not set alight due to electrical faults , sounds daft i know but it might be worth a try in blighty. im in france btw and they are real c**ks here
