Can i retrieve my SENT messages in the PM's

You know when you send another member a PM.

Once i send a message it dissapears and i cannot retrieve them.

I have my inbox.
And from there i have the following option links :

New message
Delete All
Mark as read
Outbox
Back up messages
Preferences
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Any pointers where i'm going wrong

I never even clicked on it.
I assumed outbox was were the sent messages lived until recipiant read em.
