Bought some hagon progressive springs off ebay months ago have finally come to fit them and they are 30mm longer than standard so i cant get the cap pushed down far enough to refit the spring clip. These springs cost me a tenner so im about to cut them down and try them anyway.
Any reasons why i shouldnt do this and whats the best method to get a straight / flat finish to the spring?
cheers

here wat ur saying butchers, just had a cup of tea and calmed myself down ha ha.
just spoke to hagon and they would seem to be the right length so it give a bit more pre-load apparently.
So how do i get the plugs in far enough to fit the spring clip? Ive tried with a screw driver and cant get the plug past the groove....

ggrrrrrr!
so i think the o ring under the cap is causing to much friction when it gets to that point the forks start to compress rather than the the cap continuing to go down.
Does anyone know if that oil seal has a flat profile or rounded. looks like someone has just put an o ring in there to replace the original. (thats what im hoping anyway)

have you tried greasing the 'o' ring to lube it past the groove? it should be a rounded 'o' ring not a flat edged one.

fit the forks into yokes grease the o ring get a mate to push cap down until it locates in the tube then use a small g clamp under the yoke and on top of the cap tighten until the cap passes the groove in the tube then fit spring clip into groove and remove clamp slowly. it might take a couple of tries til you get it all lined up properly but i've done it this way a couple of times. hope this helps

Isn't there a Spring spacer tube as well as the spring in the stock setup?? Should be. Remove the spacer and DIY a shorter(?) one out of White or Grey PVC pbg tubing (yes it's Kosher Racetech supplies such with their spring setups.. I've used such for years, oil does not affect it at all Having the spring so high that you cannot refit the Fork cap is just Stupid.. It's Hard Enough to struggle that cap back on with the oem spring. Cut your new spacer untill it's an oem equivalent struggle to refit that cap. Tubing is cheap if you make a length mistake.
