Just noticed in the wiring diagram in the workshop manual for my 1983 LC2 that it shows a single black / earth wire coming up from the stator and going into the main wiring harness .I'm pretty certain mine hasn't got that black wire only the three multi plugs and certain the spare stator I have hasn't got it either. Just wondering if anyone on the forum has an 83 LC2 that they could have a look at theirs to see if they have a single black wire coming from the stator. Thanks Tone.

tone,i've got two 31k stators and they both have a single black wire coming from them. the 1 on me bike goes to the battery neg for some reason :-/and everything works on the bike as it should,i can't find the single black wire which was coming from the loom it must be under the tank somewhere, perhaps mines wired wrong then.if the black wire from the stator goes to the black wire in the loom where does the battery neg go to

My '83 LC2 also has the single black wire Tone As this is an earth cable you may be achieving the connection via another route so not such a big problem, however, the only thing to look out for is if the electrical connection is reliant on mechanical faces being joined electrically. Personally (as per anorak ;D ) I would insert the cable and route/connect it as Yamaha initially designed.

Ok thanks guys I had a look today and found the wire. For some reason I thought it only had the three multi plugs coming from the stator but looking closely found the single black behind the other wires going into the loom. Tone.
