just hot water (as hot as the hot tap will run has been fine for me but your tap may be hotter) and some washing up water. Use a toothbrush on the dirty outsides before you start and then use the cleaner and change the water as needed... also dont ever put your fingers in when its running... that tingling feeling is your finger nerve endings dying, or som ive been told...

What are the things to look for in a good ultrasonic cleaner i've heard alot of them mention in the forum but being honest i know nothing about them. can you clean electrical wiring for example Get a medical grade one such as this www.ultrawave.co.uk/products.php?id=15&cat=1&prod=48expensive but they work, I paid £110.00 for a second hand one You can clean anything that won't be damaged by immersion in liquid such as electronics or your FINGERS

I have a small one for cleaning jewellery in and just put water in, doesnt even have to be warm. You wont damage nerve endings in them either.

I have the same cleaner that guy used for his old bullet casings, but I use it for watch parts. It works really well on dirty bracelets (crusty with a blend of human skin, dust and body oils/hand creams etc) with warm water with a dash of washing up liquid. I assumed that was similar to carb grease and it worked ok on some parts that i did, but will try some vingear and other things now you guys have said that. One thing thats great about this type of cleaning is that it gets in all sorts of places that you cant put a brush into or would ruin with a solid probe etc.

I have used them a lot in theatres where i work. They used to be used to clean instruments. I guess there are different ones for different jobs and maybe the ones you have been told about do cause damage. The ones i have used dont.
