I think that you'll find it much cheaper to buy a replacement set of barrels, there is alot of work involved in relining.

when you consider a pair of half worn barrels are gonna cost you 100-150quid and will probably need a rebore anyway relining dont seem so bad. You will end up with std bore, loads of life in em. Im on maximum overbore now and when I have to get em done I will miss the extra cc's

Consider this Very carefully. What the jerks who promote resleeving.. Do Not.. mention is that the Original liners were heated to 600 f.. PRIOR... to the Ali being poured into the barrel molds. Yama cleverly figured out that by doing so the inbuilt stresses on the liner caused it to expand at a Very Similar Rate to an All Ali Cylinder.. with resultant performance/durability benefits. Stuffing in a fresh iron tube, neatly Negates all of this advantage. In short you pay too much for a Shitty result. Caveat Emptor.. big time Kids.
IF.. you absolutely Must ...reuse a cylinder. you Can have it Nikasil plated. Likely not in the UK as it's usually claimed 'undoable '. But.. US Chrome.. will.. do it happily (with a warantee ;-) for $240 a barrel though That cost should separate the men from the boys :-)

If the hard and fast rule is to stay within Yamaha specifications, then 0.5mm is all the barrels are good for taking out to.......
Unfortunately we can no longer nip down to the local Yam dealer and pick up some new barrels, so exploring other avenues is always a good thing.
Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet, shell out some money and if it works, jolly good. If it doesn't, at least you tried and know better next time.

Stan Stephens does Nicosil plating for £95 a barrel and doesnt recomend re-lining for the reasons bare suggests. Read all about it here www.stanstephens.com/nicosil.htm

if you do decide to get them re-linered fahron engineering do this conversion and do a very good job,he fitted a 175cc liner in my 125lc barrel that was past its last o/s piston and it worked very well

The re-plating service is for an alloy cylinder that was manufactured then nicosil plated. What he is saying is do not then fit a cast iron liner to the alloy cylinder, just re-plate it. The LC/YPVS cylinders are manufactured with a cast iron liner..... Am i misunderstanding this.

I thought that they could only plate alloy cylinders, and if i remember correctly when I had my rgv done many years ago the pistons had some sort of coating on as well. I could alway try and knock up a set of ally liners at work and see if they work

I have a spare set .75 bores look mint. One has had the exhaust port stud welded, but looks a very good job

Having said that plated bores will outlast several pistons it's tough stuff, much more so than the oem iron bores. Stuffing an iron tube into an old Barrel is a piss poor Bodge .. usually done only for restorers (they never use their engines anyways ) and the Naive.

I have all so heard of Iron liners being plated but if the bike blows up its a re plate again not just a re bore .
I have seen loads of barrels relined and had a few my self with no problems at all . Half the racers on the track are running relined bikes so they can cheet and run DT175 pistons in therer 250lc's.

i have one done with a plastic resin liner.now before u laugh ur asses off its one they use in the aircraft industry -t28097r. mechanic told me that it was ''very handy on pistons''.downside is he told me that it does use a bit extra oil.and ony lasts approx 2500 miles!i decided not to go for it because im planning on doing around the world trip and i dont wanna be stuck in somewhere like thialand with a blown motor..............
