Morning men Am i correct in sayin the Expander Ring should ALWAYS be fitted under the bottom ring The reason i ask is im sure it should but just noticed that the person who was running this bike before me had it fitted under the top ring

Up to you mate. But there are NO 'extra' parts included. Yama engineers designed it that way, but then what would they know about their engines? I have no idea where the name 'expander' ring originated, but that is NOT it's function. The ring needs No expanding (as if a wee spring could affect ring tension in any real way The thing is there to slow/stop the pistons sideways rock or slap as it changes direction, using the rings contact with the bore as it's anchor. Yes! it works as intended. Engine will also run fine without it.. but increased piston and bore wear will result and ..Noise. will be a problem. Sometimes some of these springs do break in use.. typically of Aftermarket parts but usually when the bore/piston clearance is excessive... beating the pore things to death. Your $ your choices.
