ive just fitted some tapered headset bearing and think ive fitted them wrong some how as the steering feels tight and has play even when the castle nut is very slack. to fit the top bearing i removed the oem ball bearings and the cup they run in from the frame and fitted the new insert in the frame and the new taper bearings (all seems good) but the problem i think lays on the bottom yolk bearing on the bottom yolk i removed the oem bearing cup by tapping it off th stem and tapped the roller bearing in its place and then i put the new roller bearing runner on top and re-fitted it all to th bike,it seems impossable to set at a position where there is no free play and light steering so there must be a problem the play looks to be coming from the botton but i couldnt see any other way the bearings could fit so any advice would be great as i need to get it fixed asap
