I take it you have removed the circlip in front of the fork seal. They take a fair old yank to pull them apart, I hold the wheel spindle boss on the bottom of the stantion in a vice, slide them together until they are fully closed then give it a good old tug to pull apart. You may have to do this several times to seperate them. Sounds brutal but never found a better way of seperating them

No mate it all becomes clear when you get them apart, there are two bushes I think from memory which are guides for the lower stantion, these are what is stopping it coming apart, the lower one is a tight fit in the fork tube. Once seperated you remove these bushes then the seal & dust cap.

Anybody Know How To Get The Wheel spindle boss off of the bottom of the Stantion......... they have a little allen key grub screw locking the stanchion to the boss, a pig to remove sometimes without rounding them off......... if this happens then it is a very..very careful drill and tap! are you thinking of powder coating the boss, because if you are imo it isn't worth it over a good paint job for the possible hassle......... but then you may get lucky, if you are thinking of titanium coating etc or replacing the stanchions then it may pay you in the long run to send them to a specialist?
