what a difference between the 2 sets of pics. its certainly a one off mate and all your own work too... anyway its no good sat on yer kitchen table get it put back together i want to know how quick she goes when you have run her in. if it were me i would be going premix mate you know for sure you have the right mix then, my old lc kept going pop due to a u.s. oil pump, took me 3 total rebuilds before i gave up n paid for it to be looked at, was a spring somewhere that had to be replaced... anyway rebuilt it n sold it, got just shy of a grand in 2002 god only knows what it would have been worth now days.. well ron at faron said keep the standard oil pump and he was like a talking bible i couldnt belive it i am going to take his advice and he said he has done afew of them now but mainly ones in the standard barrel re lined so i gonna do this first as i need my bike back as i gonna start racing round town again annoying mr plod ;D

right my plan is to turn the minimum stroke up abit so for a start the pump will pump more through then im going to add abit of oil to the tank as well i have spoke to my mechanic tom and he agrees that is should be ok as he had one the same many years ago but i have been thinking will a dt175 oil pump work but i will find out if im wrong it will go bang ;D

for what its worth id remove the pump and run premix,my old 175lc that ron did the top end on pulled to the redline in top on standard gearing,a speedo indicated 105mph ish maybe a tad more( a good few mm over 100 anyway),to be honest the motor was faster than what the chassis could handle and it felt dangerous over 75mph imo. i replaced all the swingarm bearings and bushes and it always felt like there was some flex between the frame and swinger under load ??.stretched chains, clutch slip and groved clutch baskets were also a problem on mine but as yours is a full rebuild it should take it better than mine did

i really dont wanna run premix as its to much bother i am going to hunt a dt175 pump as that will give the exact right amount of oil to the 175 cc and that will bolt straight on grunt

Did he tell you what the 'something special' part was? Any clues lol, you have been lucky with people doing you favors and that grunt. Like the yam logo on ya clutch cover , free paint and now old Ron has something is store, should look and go well when done mate ;D. Adam

i have got ron from faron engineering doing my barrel which is now complete and norbo has seen it and has said for my money he has done a good tune it should be fast he has spent a while on the barrel work most people i spoke to have had barrel work done with ron which was reasurring
carb is on way thats the next trick thing to finish the engine off nicely
im using my origional micron to see what it goes like atm but eventually i will get a pipe made based around a small can micron like i have but to match the power of the 180cc big bore if it doesnt go as well as expected ;D

are you not using reed stopper plates?
|
|
|
Post by racerd on Aug 22, 2010 0:11:32 GMT 1
you can also taper port the front of the carb, the end which goes into the rubber inlet manifold
