I have removed my snorkel from the lid of the airbox, but should i remove the tube bit from the bottom of the airbox? Any ideas what jet size i should be running for standard engine, large can microns, snorkel removed (or should i refit?) and that bottom bit removed ( thats if it's worth removing?) Currently have 280's and standard pilots. Hope this makes sense. Cheers Russell

No, on the microfische it seems to show what looks like another snorkel underneath the air filter, unless i'm looking at it wrong maybe!

I'll second that, remove the lower one as well. Would usually go up 2 sizes if removing. I'm running 260's with small can allspeeds, snorkels removed and ported barrels so you can't be far off with the microns and 280's.
Just check the plugs after a good run.

Stock jetting is 240? Or not for your particular engine? Normally There should be No jetting alteration req'd for anything less than changing from the stock: air filter element or airbox. Rejetting is to accomodate for increased airflow into the engine. If you will measure the size / area of the airbox tubes (snorkel and inner) you will find that they are of larger cross sectional area than Both carbs at Full open throttle :-) Yama San wasn't stupid. Having said that, mine are removed ...but I did Not need to rejet. Pull the plugs and check the mixture ? Microns Do Not require a rejet.. period. Yama traditionally jetted rich (for warantee reasons..I presume)
