Front brake works but not as well as I think it should.(good enough to pass MOT) If I really pull on the lever I can get it to touch the handlebar grip. I disconnected the brake line at the splitter and blocked it. Lever was solid. What is there in the caliper cause a soppy lever?

Took me bloody ages to get the race bikes brakes sorted, same problem, back to the bar. Swopped the master cylinder to no avail. Stripped everything and cleaned up the pistons, new seals and discoverd the oring between the calliper halves were squashed and had been caught inbetween the halfs. Changed them and bingo. Dunno if it was the seals or what but it worked. Still took ages to bleed though.
One of the other guys I race with had the same problem, his turned out to be master cylinder seals,
With ferodo road sintered I can stand it on it's nose, they just have to be in tip top condition. The Goodridge hoses probably help too
