Haynes says 21mm from gasket base. but then goes on to say something about allowing gravity to set the float so that its touching the pin on the valve but not compressing the spring...........
I thort you just laid the carb ventura down on a flat surface so that the float settles than measure it.
or am i being a wally?
81' 250 lc
Can anyone help with my oil pump posting in advice?
cheers,
who would have thort resetting things to standard would be so hard??

Lay the carburettor on its SIDE (not up side down) and when the tab of the float bowl engages the valve needle then take the measurement 21mm (without the gasket in place) Gav

Ok by side im assuming you mean the part you will see from the outside of the bike not the front or rear of the carb (inlet or outlet ie the piece that goes into the reedvalve or airbox).
Hope that make sense and doesnt make me look to stupid. ha ha

Another way is to blow down the fuel inlet pipe. Close floats till you cant blow anymore...then measure. Tricky. Eather way, lay carb on its side, with the dangly end of floats swinging freely

Tricky but well worth practising! Gav
