I’m thinking about another lid - my current one is a Shoei GT Air II which I love. It fits me well and I don’t find it at all noisy - I don’t use ear plugs. I also like drop-down sun visors which my Shoei has.
I’m thinking about a Simpson Venom.
I know fit and noise are very subjective subjects, but what are general opinions on Simpson Venoms?
Thanks in advance.

Look great, nowhere near as good as your Shoei!

Look great, nowhere near as good as your Shoei! I just looked at the price of a new GT Air II - holy cow, I didn't pay anywhere near that when I got my albeit plain white one about 3 years ago

I always wanted a Simpson helmet, bought one and then hated it! Ended up going with a HJC RPHA70, got 3 of them now.

I can’t comment on noise as I haven’t ridden with it yet. However I bought a carbon fibre Simpson Venom.
I usually try on at my local bike clothing shop, but they only had XL. It was a bit tight.
I wanted to replace an aging Arai, which I thought was quite comfortable after years of wear to my head shape.
I very apprehensively order a 2XL from Germany as even after import duty and VAT was a tad cheaper than those I saw offered at the time (since seen a U.K. supplier for about £20 cheaper, but hey ho).
Anyway I was over the moon with the fit. Tight but spongy lining.

I love the look and comfort of my Simpson Venom but it’s a large shell size compared with my Arai helmets. Arai has been my go to since the 90s.

How strange you mention the Arai….
Swapped my Arai for a Shoei, the Shoei is a smaller shell and much lighter as I too have a GT 2 air.
But looking at going back to Arai which were for 20 years the choice…. But no matter which helmet you look at today ….. we are being ripped off. Some may say, what price do you put on your head…..plus the price of comfort, quality and plushness, well, I will certainly be looking in the clearance sections from now on, as £799 for a helmet is an utter…..(feel free to insert your choice of naughty wordings here🤣)

I tried loads on and found the X-Lite X802RR Ultra Carbon. A little noisy but very light. I had to go from XL to 2XL in these as they seem to come up smaller than my old Shoei.
I have 2 of the 802s, then I got an 803, as they look the same, but the padding is different and squashes my ears so I cannot hear! I need to modify the foam slightly to clear.
They are worth and try on as can be found for £250ish for a £500 helmet.

Normally use an arai and have done since the mid 80’s. I wear a Simpson when I’m on the Lc, just for the looks however I’d never wear it for a long journey and I’d prefer to crash in an arai than the Simpson.

Went with Mouse to look at lids the other day.
One he liked was on sale. £950
Another one there (Arai) was £1500
One I liked was a more reasonable £500
