hello there I am new to the kind of thing I have been building bikes for the last 30 years many restorations but in the last 10 years I have been building one off custom bikes I get so much satisfaction from making something fit where it was not meant to go but always with 70`s bikes I will ask a lot of question because I look deep into anything I do to get the best results so please forgive me for posting a lot of questions I started my riding career at 11 years old on yamaha trials bikes and have been loyal to the brand since at the moment I have a 1972 xs650 custom build and an 1977 xt500 but had an itch for a 2 stroke so I have bought a 1971 R5 which will be delivered in the next few day so I can't wait to get started anyway thanks in advance to anyone who gives me advice .

Welcome, I think you are 8n the right place, the Aircooled Club is for the moment highly restoration focused although I anticipate it will change. We are a broad church on here and if itโs two stroke and Yamaha then you will find yourself very welcome. Also since the R5/RD/LC frames have so much in common then there is lots to be leaned from looking at what fits and what works well. The permutations are endless so still plenty of scope for the personal touch.
