My 31k handles well enough for my geriatric riding although the front forks dive a bit. I fitted progressive springs and heavier oil but they could be a bit firmer. Now I've never put any air in them. Does the stated 6psi air really help? And does it stay in once pumped up? I also have an f2 type rear shock which I understand to be a great upgrade on the standard 31k shock? Would a yss shock be worth it?

The air does work but it soon dissipates.
What is your weight? I'm 100kg and use progressive springs (make unkown) plus a pre-load spacer on top of my springs. The air gap or amount of oil you use is important along with the oil weight or viscosity. You need to look at a fork oil chart as there is no constant viscosity for different brands of fork oil.
A Member that has not posted in a long time advised Mobil ATF this worked really well for me. I don't have any more, so now i have been using Maxima fork fluid 15. I came to this by trial and error using different viscosity oils.
I have seen other recommendations on this site, which are very different to what i use. You need to find out what works best for you.
A good quality rear shock makes a big big difference.

YSS shock worth its weight in gold
You can add preload by shimming the springs with 2p coins
As said the air soon escapes

Steve's comment above nails it.

Yeh I've read the air escapes which is why I never bothered. I used 2p's in my rd400 until I fitted progressive springs in that. I think I remember adding a few mm more to the oil. I used motul 15w fork oil. I'm around 105kg. I might get a yss shock.

I've got a Hagon rear shock to fit to my LC2 and a YSS to fit to my RZ350.
Now I've just about finished my CB900F hybrid build they're the next on my to do list. Will be interesting to see how they compare.🤔
I've got Hagon progressive fork springs on my RZ and they're too soft. Got F2 lowers with fork brace, std springs with preload spacers on my LC2 and it's miles better! 😁👌
